Okay so I keep getting confused on going stage 2. So I got the giac chip. So that's stage 1. Now going stage 2+ do you get the parts and tune it again buying a stage 2 chip or say go to a tuner to have em tune it or not?

Stage 2 is generally a description for a Stage 1 tune that has been adjusted to work with aftermarket downpipes that do away with the secondary O2 sensors.

If you have a Stage 1 tune that works with the secondary O2 sensors, purchase downpipes that don't use secondary O2 sensors, and use the tune it will throw a DTC.

I'm not familiar with how GIAC addresses the different hardware requirements as I only used their tune with aftermarket downpipes.

Do you know if the GAIC chip you have is stage 1 or 2? Like I said, I'm not sure how GIAC handles the stage 1 to 2 differences. If you are using it now and don't have any problem, the time you *might* encounter one would be if you install downpipes that don't use the secondary O2 sensors. That assumes GIAC hasn't made the tune adaptive, which I wouldn't think to be the case, but I'm not familiar enough with their products to know how they handle the O2 sensors. A note to GIAC may be your quickest path to an answer.

I have stage 1 tune. On their website it says it's recommended to have an exhaust. Their stage 2 says to have k04s already

Calling a setup with K04's Stage 2 is not following the conventional progression nomenclature. Contact them, or AWE Tuning, to get clarification if the stage 1 tune will also work without the secondary O2 sensors.
