    APR vs ECS Intake

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Got to see them side by side today, damn the APR tube from the box to the TB is much smaller. The APR is slightly quieter than the ECS too.

    42 mm Watch for reference

    APR:

    ECS:

Not sure the bigger tube does anything... Air intake limited by scoop

My point is that the bottleneck is still the intake scoop. Not sure anything bigger than the APR tube will net any gains. I personally think the APR tube looks more "natural" where as the odd shape of the ECS tube screams aftermarket

ECS carbon is a wider weave, more appealing to the eye IMHO. APR appeared to have the intake fully enclosed why ECS has a heat shield and a carbon fiber snorkel to direct the air.

I feel that the ECS intake gives the least resistance to the supercharger trying to suck air in, with the larger tube and open filter element. I have no data to support this.

I agree that the ECS is more appealing to the eye. In terms of restriction and gains... Doubt any of these two are any different in power

I do. I've logged and tested stock, the APR tube with AWE filter (stock air box), Roc-Euro, CTS, and ECS. The ECS definitely flows more air than the APR tube on the stock air box. The ECS, Roc-Euro, and CTS are all really close. I had slightly lower IAT's with the ECS, but it was close enough to call it a draw. Air flow was noticeably better with the ECS, CTS, and Roc-Euro (and again, all three were almost identical-in the case of ECS and CTS they were literally identical).

Just cause you had to be special and buy the Usp one doesn't give you the right to badger this man.

Go buy a real USP, one from Hk. :)

Haha. Nope. I have a friend with one, but he lives in a different state. Maybe I'll see if I can work something out with him next time I am up there. I try to do my testing in the same place/conditions which is pretty easy here (I have about 6 months of similar late night weather), but it's hard when other people/places are involved.

I forgot, I have also logged/tested the Eurocode too. It was about the same as the APR tube with AWE filter. I have not logged or tested the full APR, USP, Injen, or AWE at all.... Not sure if I'm missing any other common ones. Just as a general comment, I'd say anything that gets rid of the stock air box restrictions AND has a good/mostly sealed heat shield seems to be pretty decent (USP, although a bit ugly, fits the bill).

This is very unscientific, but in terms of the amount of (S/C) sound: Stock is a 1, replacing the intake tube/stock filter bumps it up to a 3, ECS is a 7, and CTS/Roc-Euro is an 8. Or something like that....

I will say the fitment on our intake is second to none. It's 100% reversible too. No cutting or trimming OE parts to install either.
