Should I just get new tires?

I was pumping gas when I noticed my front RIGHT tire was split at the bead. I'm not low on air, but I'm wondering whether I should be concerned. I don't know how long I've been driving with the tire like that, but if anyone knows exactly what is happening there and can offer some insight and/or advice, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Go to americas tire if the tires still have alot of thread on them. Get warranty certificates, shouldnt cost more than 150 for all four. Then, go back a couple days later and show them the issue. They will replace the faulty tire with a new on and you only need to buy abother certificate for that tire.

Probably. That looks like it's on a seam and will likely get worse. Probably worth sending pictures to the manufacturer to see if they'll cover it or want to take it back to see why it failed.

You should definitely be concerned. How many miles do you have on the tires? You've only had them for around ~8 months, right? Contact the manufacturer, although from their website it looks like that will be difficult. So your seller should assume some responsibility. I would contact "Get your Wheels" and ask for a replacement. This is a real safety hazard, so if you have another set of wheels I'd recommend you swap them over Immediately. Be careful and good luck...

Oh damm. It doesn't look like it was pinched or anything so I'd say defect. I would get a new one because who knows how fast you will be going when that hole grows and blows out.

This place will let you buy warranties for used tires that are on your car already without inspecting them? Or are you saying buy a new tire then go back and tell them the new one split? Seems shady and dishonest. I couldn't do that anymore than I would hit someones car and drive away without telling them.

OP, I agree with T_I, get that tire off of your car as soon as you can and avoid highway speeds with it until you do. Looks like either a defect or you rubbed against something sharp and cut it.

No road hazzard warranty on them?

    Thank you gentlemen,

It's 8:45am right now in So Cal and American Tire Depot opens at 9am and they have a special for buying 3 tires and getting the 4th one free. I'm debating whether I should just buy a new set of 4 or simply replace the damaged one. If I get a new set, I'll most likely not go 235/35/19 and go to 245/35/19 because I have a feeling that the stretch is what may have caused it to split.

I will also contact Get Your Wheels to see what they can do, although they didn't carry the tire but were able to acquire them for me.

Yes get NEW tires and yes get 245/35/19's, the 235's failed because they where stretched and did not have the correct weight carry range, a lot worse things could have happened. Minimum weight range is 93.

I went with a complete set of new 245/35/19 and got road hazards for all of them. The road hazard is good for three years or until the tire reaches 3/32".

I definitely learned a lesson with this. I'm thankful that nothing worse happened, but wait til I show you guys what happened to the other tires.
These had an even bigger split on the inner side. The two rear tires were fine.

OP, FWIW, i tried to get a manufacturer to replace my tires because the tread wires were crossing creating a bumpy ride feeling. It was a nightmare and at the end of the day they didnt cover them because of the incorrect tire size as recommended for my wheel, meaning stretch voids any warranty from my experience.

LOL just saw the tire brand. I hope you replaced it with something better, otherwise I hope you understand that this is the risk with running a cheap tire.

Yep, they were LionHart LH Four tires and to be completely fair, I blame the split on not having run the proper tire weight ratings that our A4's call for.

I replaced them with Achilles ATR Sports which appear to have great reviews. Either way, I'm covered for 3 years by American Tire Depot and they carry these in stock, so I don't have to deal with manufacturers should a need arise.

From the tread design (no siping) they don't look like they would be very good in snow. I got Continental DWS 06 for only about $8 more a tire on Black Friday.

There's a new version of the ATR Sport called ATR Sport 2. I went with the older version because the tread is suitable for socal weather conditions.

Update: I've been in contact with the Get Your Wheels rep who sold me the tires since Monday of this week. Hagasan, I've actually had the tires since February 2015, making my tires about 11 months old. Anyhow, the rep requested pictures and it looks like I'm getting two new replacement tires. I have to drop off the tires at their warehouse and they will be taking care of all the paperwork for me. I do plan on selling the 2 new tires on craigslist along with the 2 rear used tires that only have inner camber wear since I'll never run 235/35/19 91Y again on my B8.

By the way, there was no damage on the inside, so that was good to see.
