    Rs4 grill install ?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I'm putting it back together and I don't know if everyone is using the foam behind the grill or not. My foam is on but the passenger side is super tight and not wanting to go on. The grill is touching the foam. I could paint the aluminum bean black or maybe trim the foam...not sure.

Any quick help would be appreciated...trying to watch the UFC fights lol.

Most go without the foam and paint or plasti dip the crash bar from what I've seen. Painted the bar on my buddy's S5.

Don't use foam. Paint the crash bar. If you use the foam or leave the bar "raw", it won't look very good. Grab a can of plastidip and dip it.

No foam here. I need to remove mine in the spring and plan to hit it with bed liner from a rattle can. I hit it with cheap black paint initially because that's all I had at the time. starting to chip which is not surprising. Easy fix though.

Yea I figured black paint would chip so I used black plasti dip. That shits really durable even on exposed pieces so it should hold up fine. Thanks for the input brotha!

When I ran out to get the dip, I got a pizza and ate the whole thing hahaha. Needless to say, I didn't put her back together last night, I fell asleep. I'm headed out to the garage in a bit so I'll post pics after.

I'm in the middle of my grill install today too. Im planning on using the foam crash bar. I don't want to retouch chips in the painted bumper support. If it doesn't quite fit I'll end up taking some foam off. I'll report back on how I made it work!

No foam here either, I dippped the crash bar then got a sheet of black HDPE and cut it to fit so the contours on the crash bar are hidden.

I like that. I thought I saw somewhere here on AZ where someone wrapped their crash bar with a rubber tubing too. All one piece and very clean like. Hmmmm.

Just installed mine today. Of course, when I went to remove the chrome rings, a few of the plastic tabs broke. Ordered a new front chrome emblem which should be here later in the week. Also couldn't figure out how to install the S4 badge. Thinking about getting one with 3M backing.

I somehow superglued mine on...don't ask how, but it was some crazy ass glue I found. Solid as a rock on the grille!

That gave me a great idea. I wrapped electrical tape between two holes to make a backing, sanded down the back of the S4 emblem, and then super glued it to the tape. Can't see the tape and it's holding on great.

Well I tried to fit the foam and couldn't quite get it to work unmodified. Before I modified the foam to fit I wanted to trim my black filler piece and attach it to the grill.

So.... I really like the filler plate and I dont need bother with the foam or painting the bar with it. I'll just leave it as is =)

So it was the foam holding the bumper off! Got it back together super easy without it in in the way. Got creative and zip tied the home link box (not in the tripod case) under the intake scoop. I also broke a few tabs on the rings when removing from the stock grill, but it still locked in place just fine. I think most people were peeling and reattaching the s4 emblem to the rs4 clip omegis.
