    Sharkfin Antenna Rubber Gasket

Does anyone know if there is a secondary gasket to prevent water leakage on the sharkfin antenna besides the one on the outside?

Mine seems to lift up enough and leave a gap for water to seep into and get to the headliner.

If I replace this gasket would I need a whole new sharkfin or is it a separate piece?

Come on man, did you even try and trouble shoot or research for fixes or parts!?!?

The screw holding it down might be loose so try and see if you can tighten it (the screw is under the headliner). No you wouldn't have to replace the fin.

    Here's the gasket.

Thanks, I obviously did not search hard enough lol. My browser only came up with old threads.

I did pull the headliner down to get to the screw but my hand plus a screwdriver wont fit to tighten it down.

Until this comes in, I am worried water will find its way to the headliner since it raining hard for five days this week.

Just giving you crap man. Has it been like that without leaking? Mine is a little loose but never leaks.

It hasent leaked yet I dont think or else I would have water marks on the headliner.

But I fell like I made it worse today touching the rubber around the edges and moving the fin. The gap seems a lot bigger than before.

Ill leave some paper towels under to make sure.

    Bump

Were you able to successfully replace the gasket using the ECS part above?

have you tried using an offset screwdriver?

I have one shaped more like a "Z" for tight spots

I never ended up ordering that piece because it seems like it doesnt fit our cars based on the fitment guide. But, there is no water getting to the headliner or shorting anything out even though a little water is getting under the antenna. I can push the antenna down and it squeezes some drops of water out from under.

I know for sure its not leaking to the headliner because it rained hard for a week straight last month here in San Diego. I had paper towels there the whole time and nothing got through. I checked every couple of hours everyday it rained.

I probably should replace it anyways but I havent figured out how to get the antenna back on after I take it off since its much harder to get the screw back in place in a tight spot like that.

I thought about that. I think I would be able to get the antenna off if I used an offset screwdriver but I doubt I could get the antenna back on since the screw I need to screw back in is in such a tight spot.

Yeesh. I ended up just beading some silicone around it to re-seal it. I don't think there's a gasket-only alternative without having to buy a whole new antenna for $250+. F That.

I recently replaced my antenna due to a...garage door incident.

Gasket is fused to the metal base of the antenna, non-replaceable. However, the painted plastic cover is easily replaced. So if you purchase a used (working) antenna as a replacement, you can swap the covers.

One more thing - the leads can be soldered as well. I was able to replace my totally decimated antenna with a used one with cut leads for $20.
