Has anyone upgraded swtiches, door mirror housing, and dash?

Happy New Year to all Audiphiles out there! Has anyone updated their Q7's window switches to the ones trimmed in aluminum? Also...are their aluminum door mirror housings available for the Q7? Lastly...I would like to get a leather-covered dash for my Q7 as I hate the cheap plastic one I have now, is it possible to cover the stock piece or do I need to buy an OEM piece? Thank You...

yes to all of the above. costly and laborious. the switches are easier to replace and there are covers you can place on the seat switches, the entire dashboard needs to be replaced in order to have an oem leather dashboard installed or you can go to an upholsterer and ask them to do a custom installation but it will still require removal of the entire dashboard, wrapping and refitting. mirrors are available. oem and aftermarket. oem fit the best and are roughly $600-800 a pair, aftermarket fit poorly and are $380 but a third option would be a brushed aluminum vinyl wrap but would probably cost as much as the aftermarket set. after everything is said and done you may be better off buying a newer Q7 instead retrofitting all these bits.

Is what he's doing essentially trying to upgrade these parts to replicate the s-line prestige Q7 from a Premium or Premium Plus?

i believe his objective is to change to the newer switches that the earlier Q7 did not have. the brushed aluminum style mirrors were only offered on the v12 and never part of any appearance package in NAR. in 2015 the Q7 swan song send off package included all black mirror housings. the full leather dashboard was never an option in NAR. 2007-2009 received a leather dash hood above the speedo and it was part of the extended leather package which got you alcantara headliner, leather door pulls and leather center console and the knee pad under the dash on the driver's side had minor bits of leather.

    Iconoclast,

Did you do these upgrades or stating that it's possible and what it will take?

Actually interested in doing the switches as well.

Think more and more folks will start doing things like this as cars fall out of warranty or parts need to be replaced.

i looked into a full leather dash swap from EU. between cost involved in acquiring the parts and shipping them and the labor i would have to pay to swap it over and then all the rattles and creaks and broken plastic tabs and clips that would need to be replaced i decided it was not worth my time or money.
