Oil leak from bottom of timing belt cover of 2.7t motor.

Having removed the underneath shield and looking upwards towards the alternator I can see oil coming from the lowest point of the timing belt cover. It is not a large leak but I am considering a possible repair at some point of time.

It would appear that oil is pooling inside the cover and then trickling out. Now what seals could be leaking? The camshaft seals were replaced about twelve months ago by the previous owner of the vehicle but may be leaking. Then there is the front main crankshaft seal. Could it leak inside the timing belt cover?

Your comments will be appreciated. Thanks

With how fast the belt and associated parts are moving inside there the oil gets moved around quite a bit inside the covers, only real way to know would be to get inside. If you're motivated then take the covers off and you'll probably get your answer pretty easily. May be more than one seal.

How's your PCV, is it clogged? Have you upgraded to a vented oil cap? Despite changing any seals a year ago, if the pressure inside the heads has no place to go it can start pushing oil out of the seals in short order.

I have upgraded to a vented cap and will be installing a new spider hose assembly as soon as the part arrives in the post. The leaks may reduce after that hopefully.
