    Touareg coil spacer

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello,
Does anybody want to share the experience using the touareg spacer to accomodate the 2.0t coil packs? How's the fitment? Does it hold since it seems that it does not have holes for the mounting bolts?

The reason I'm asking because i saw someone took a picture that the ECS spacer (the small pieces) does not align with the bolt hole on the valve cover.

Should work fine. They do not fully cover 2 of the corners so put a dab of silicone on there to keep crud out.

The tabs that poke into the bolt holes are prob one time use and never coming back out.
Some have removed them and drilled holes to use bolts.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

I am about to go this route also. I want cheap and functional. After reading several threads about adaptor plates I came to the same conclusion about the little plastic tabs.
If I can dovetail this thread: I read somewhere that Toureg 1 V8 coils seal to the valve cover better because they have revised rubber boot. I wonder if anyone can verify that they work on AEB.

You only really need adapter plates for early AEB heads. For later valve covers you can cut the rubber base off your old coil. Slip it on the new coils and it will hold it fine.

    Hi King_,
Does the coil snaps in place to the plugs? Will the top plastic cover fit in to ensure everything holds down better?

    Hi Maxiz.

Yes they basically snap onto the plugs. They will NOT help hold them DOWN better. I push them on most of the way then lightly hammer fist the last bit on. The top plastic thing wont really do much, maybe keep debris out of the holes. I never had a problem. If you do buy them drill them out so you can use the screws.

I really don't think the Taureg adapters are a good design.

Can't remember who it was I saw do this.. But they took the boot off of the old packs and slid them onto the 2.0coils below the original rubber seats... Offsetting them down enough they seated as normal.
