    Hi everyone,
Sorry this is so urgent, but I came home from college and did a few mods on my a4. I have to go back Sunday so I really need this fixed tomorrow.
    Long story short-
Installed hid kit, works perfect no problems
Went to turn on my fog lights (hoen) they won't come on while my driving lights are on. When I switch my driving lights to off, they come on for 3seconda then shut off.
    Please any advice

    Sounds like you fucked up.

lol, sorry but I just had to
I was expecting something more serious, like "hey, my car won't start!!! Where do I put in the gas???" Your fogs not running isn't the emergency I was expecting
    I drive a truck now.

My thoughts exactly. I have probably only turned my fog lights on 3-4 times in the last 2.5 years. This is more of an annoyance than an emergency.

But to help your issue, I see that you have installed HID bulbs in halogen housings. That won't make you any friends here. The problem with helping you troubleshoot is that we don't know how you wired them in, as those kits are typically not plus and play and involve some level of sketchy-ness. Also, are your fog lights something other than stock with aftermarket bulbs? Did you try to change any coding in Vagcom?

Hey thank you for all the replies even if some of them were witty. I'm saying urgent, because when I go back to college I can't work on my car whatsoever and the fog lights really help in colorados heavy snow. I did install HIDs in the halogen housing, but I promise you at 6000k they are not blinding. Fog lights are stock with hoen bulbs. I have not been to a shop to have the codes read

The only help i can give you is to advise you to put the headlights back the way they were and if you want HID lighting do it the right way. everything you need to know is available at AZ.

I promise you they are blinding. Halogen housings cannot focus the beam enough to prevent this. I would recommend going back to stock and seeing if your fog lights work then.

My advice. Take the HIDs out of your reflector housing. It's not going to help you and you're just going to blind everyone. That is a promise.

Laugh as much as you want, the pics conflict with my statement. But I can stand 15ft away and look directly at them. I know the reasons for the housing, but they don't seem to be blinding

You need to aim your headlights. See how much brighter the drivers side is in the picture?

I did notice that shift I thought it was just my eyesight. Can that be fixed with the rubber adjusters? Or is that a shop concern?

This site has been great, I haven't been in it for awhile but good to see its so active. I have one more question that I wanted to address hoepfully while I had the tools here at home. Oreilly sold me slyvania white high beams, they look almost yellow. Is there a non-hid high beam that can match the 6000k of my low beam with just doing a plug and play halogen?

Use a 6mm allen wrench to turn the adjusters that are on the headlights themselves. Park in front on a closed garage door or wall so you can see what you are doing. With the HIDs in there, you are better off aiming them lower than normal.

I too have 6000k bulbs in halogens which i know people say don't do it but it doesn't bother people because i aim mines lower then usual so they aim really good at the road but not into peoples rear view mirror.

    1. Remove the HIDs, place original halogens back in.
    2. Remove the Sylvania bulbs
    3. Move the Sylvania bulbs to your headlights.
    4. Place old halogen headlight bulbs into the high beams.
    5. Have a beer. You un-did crappy stuff to something good for yourself.

First, you may not think your HIDs in the halogen housings are blinding but they are, especially in inclement weather when reflective light and glare is at its max.
Second, if you are concerned about the fog lights because you're driving in the Colorado snow you definitely do not want 6000 degree kelvin in your headlights. This makes no sense. You want a lower temperature to improve death perception and color rendering under those conditions (snow, fog, rain). Another word of advice, regarding the purchase of halogen bulbs - make sure you don't purchase an bulb with blue tinting on the glass in an bogus attempt to make them look more like the early HID headlights. I worked in automotive lighting in Europe for 5 years early in my career. Some of my earlier posts (probably 2 years old by now) discuss the physics and physiologic effects of various types of lighting if you care to look them up.

I just got the headlights adjusted, I need to lower the plastic bumper on one side to even out the driver's higher beam. So much hate for xenon in halogen housing....the bulbs are fantastic though. I thought the hoen endurance were the best for snow? Also they were aesthetically pleasing when the halogens were in. With the flow I meant the color. I have led city lights which are white, the low beams with the blue/white tint, and the high beams look almost yellow. I saw the replicated high beams with the blue tint on the tops and sides. Thank you for the heads up on those. If there is any legitimate led or halogen high beam that is white/blue that would be great. Once I adjust the plastic bumper, I will post the final result. Some part of me thought it was okay since half the people have led bars skylight across their trucks now a days.

Off road use only if they are a respectable human being. Using it on road is like using reflector housing with HIDs, a complete asshat thing to do.

    1) Remove HIDs.
    2) Sell Audi to someone who won't fuck it up.

That appears pretty blinding to me.

I know you're in college, but save up for some proper xenons. HIDs in halogen reflectors are literally the worst. I curse all people who do this and think it's okay.

But since you're in college (of that age at least) you probably think you know better than us so I'll leave you to your oncoming traffic blinding ways.

Welcome to Colorado. When you drive here in snow you will feel what the HIDs without projectors will do to you. Every snow flake will reflect light on your eyes. That's when you will know what you are doing to other drivers with those HIDs without proper projectors. Oh and fog lights are useless here unless it's foggy which is not an often occurrence unless you drive towards Wyoming border.

I have HID retrofit in my halogen housings but with morimoto mini h1 bixenons projectors. And yes, wired properly to mimic the factory bixenon function. I can put halogens back anytime I want. No modification done to factory wires and connectors except for a couple of posi taps. When I sell the car, if I am motivated, I will just replace the headlights with halogen housings and sell the bixenon retrofit as a whole.
Still I aim my lights a little lower just because I don't want to annoy people. And when I do need more light, say driving where there are no street lights, I turn on the high beams. With bixenon projectors you will get plenty of light to light up the road when empty.

Now to your question about the fogs. You may have fucked up the central electrical module by using HIDs. I say this because the fogs don't share headlight wiring. The places where the wires meet are central control module and headlight switch. May be a common ground and that's all the fogs are sharing. No idea how you wired those HIDs. So without knowing the wiring, no one would be able to suggest what to do next.

Hopefully, you have the car coded to accept xenons and haven't damaged your CCM.

An urgent request would be if you are locked out of your car and one million hungry sharks are closing in. Crap headlight that you installed and non-working fogs are a "who gives a shit."

If I knew where you live King, I'd leave my brights on pointed in your bedroom window. Jesus Christ there is so much hate for doing this. When I pulled the bumper out again, the problem was moisture in the connection for the fogs. Once I got hat cleared they're working perfectly. I tried to adjust the beams, but I had no luck and I felt as if I would just screw it up. I'm going to have a shop adjust them for a few bucks. Because I'm in college, I don't have the money to spend 500on highlights that have the xenon housing. I figured I'd try the halogen housing and see from there. My car isn't truly riced out, I promise. I saw the ziza super white h7 bulbs and I think I'm going to do those for my high beams.

For fucks sake. There's so much hate for this because this is almost the most stupid thing you can do. Just look at the latest pic you posted. Blinds the living shit out of oncoming traffic. And also with that attitude of yours be prepared for some hate.

Just my 2c, but you are an idiot.

    500?
Shell out around $150 in total for morimoto mini h1s, iris shrouds, posi taps and h1 bulbs. You already have the ballasts to re-use. May be they even have a mini h7 kit. I will give you the centric rings for shrouds and sealant for free if you need them. You shouldn't need the sealant because the OEM is plenty. I will even show you how to do a retrofit. Be prepared to spend about a weekend to do cutting and grinding. Just because I would be annoyed if you ever drove in front of me in CO with those lights. lol.
You are welcome to check out my retrofit if you are nearby. Which school do you go to in CO?
Just for motivation, this is how my retrofit looks like.
