Anyone have their ADS shocks go out?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Haven't heard of anyone crapping out their ADS shocks yet. I'm sure these can't last for the life of the vehicle especially if you're lowered.

To those that have had their ADS go out, what did you do next? Replace with Audi parts? Go full coilovers?

170k.... wow impressive. And no signs that they're in need of replacement?

A Tuner once told me that I can drive the car with the KW Lowering springs or H&R Lowering Springs with the ADS and will not have to change the shocks for a long time... but 170!!?? Thats amazing!

Nope, no signs of replacement. It's been my experience that OEM parts last quite a bit longer than aftermarket. I'll replace them with oem if they ever go out giving the longevity that I've experienced

They don't last for ever. Most people don't realize their shocks are shot because it's a gradual death. My friend has a 12 year old acura with OEM shocks. Every time I rode in his car I kept telling him his shocks were blown... he didn't feel it... but once he changed them he was shocked at how bad they had gotten.

i can almost guarantee that that car with 170k needs new shocks and would notice drastic improvements if and when they are replaced.

Have a 2010 S4, and my right rear ADS shock went bad around 40k miles. Got an error message saying Suspension Failure. It was replaced under warranty. The shock itself would have cost $800 bucks if I had to pay for it myself. Just turned 65K miles this week and all is good.

This, I have 91k on mine and When I do inspect the under carriage i can see the shocks weeping fluid on the shock body so I know its time, but the car doesn't feel bad at most times, some times I can tell

I have 100k on my car, I have been in Audi loaner cars for the last 3 months. Now that I finally have my car back they like they are on their way out when I hit some bumps, but it might be just from driving an A6 around for a couple months.

Too bad we have to spend another $400 to turn off the error lights if we want to go full coilovers..... that is unless anyone wants to spend $3200 to replace all 4 ads shocks.

Tuners should be able to incorporate an option to turn off those error lights with their tune.

Or just buy the KW V3s they plug into the existing ADS. They are pricey also.

    HEllo,

I think this is not correct. Unfortunately, none shock system plugs in the OEM ADS.
    It's a shame...

    Hello,

I am afraid those V3 are compatible with ADS, unless you by the desactivation module. But no Connecting to ADS.

The only electronic version of KW is DCC version, but connects to a Proprietary KW module and is managed via an phone Application.

Here is my last conversation with the KW sales product manager (one year ago, so things could have change, but i don't think so:

    Hello,

Thank you for your request and your interest in our products.

Unfortunately we are not planning to offer a DDC plug & play version for your car.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best regards

Hmm good to know, thanks for the info. I am seeing threads on AZ saying KW has coils that work with ADS though.

Just checked ECS and the OEM shocks are $500 a piece, I suspect dealer will charge more. Think I'll go with a coilover + the h&r/kw box to prevent codes from being thrown.
