This is my allroad. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

What’s up audizine! Happy New Year! It's time I create my own thread... I picked up my allroad in September 2014 just before our son was born since a baby seat wouldn’t be very practical in the back of a two door Jeep Wrangler. I wanted something relatively new with all-wheel drive in a wagon body style. The allroad was the perfect choice. This thing looks so wide and awesome when it’s approaching. I love it.

The modding began right away thanks to this forum with the addition of a plateless grille. Afterwards, I focused on suspension and interior bits, then went from there. Definitely not finished yet with more updates planned. I've put 16K miles on it and still running great!

Tomorrow I’ll be installing an AWE Tuning exhaust with black diamond tips and ecodes are on order.

Thanks for all the kickass responces! Loved that first full metal jpeg -- had me laughing. And yes, the username is from Dumb & Dumber. Plus I used to purchase boots that were indeed, killer (Alden, Red Wing, Wolverine).

I agree this car could use some tint to clean it up some more! Need to look into that!

This morning the AWE Tuning exhaust was installed -- it's not broken in yet but I can already tell it's got a nice tone compared to stock. I have no comparison to other exhausts but I'm really happy with the look and sound so far. I chose to not extend the tips out too far for a subtle poke.

So glad AV Auto Worx was recommended to me (Thanks Mops!). James is really cool and great to work with. Highly recommended!

I’ve gotta be honest, have not attempted to open the sunroof with the whispbars mounted. There has been much discussion on this and many have stated that contact will occur. I never really used it anyway, so I keep that sucker shut. I prefer the cargo box to be as low as possible when mounted and these crossbars handle that task well.

Were you able to make the paddle shifters work in a car that originally had the 4-spoke wheel?

Yes, just a simple vagcom code change to enable the paddles. Literally took 1 minute.

Does anyone know if ROW LED avant tail lights are plug and play with US models? I've seen a few sets installed that appear to be Europrice units (SedanGuy comes to mind) but I wasn't sure if that was an involved process (wiring, vagcom, etc.) I'd like to maintain the rear fog light functionality as well.

I think there was something different with the harness, but can't recall 100%. On another note, you have made me want to sell my sedan for an AR.

I was afraid that was the case. I'll need to do some more research. Would love to get a set off ebay germany to save on costs.

    Hey Killerboots,

Love what you have done to your ar. You will need to replace the current plugs on the US harness with smaller plugs (mine were provided through Europrice w/ the taillight package) as the RoW taillights have smaller connectors. I used a pin extractor tool to remove the wiring and placed them in the exact positions into the smaller plugs. The process is easy just need some patience when extracting the wires.

After the install, you just need to code through VCDS. I have full functions w/ rear fog lights.

I will try to get some pictures up of the connector and plug differences.

Thank you! You’ve done some awesome upgrades to yours, love it! The tail light swap sounds like a fun afternoon project. Would love to see some additional pictures if you have them available. I think it would be a really useful reference. Your youtube video actually popped up in my google searching.

Haha! I will definitely let you know! There is so much I’d like to do still! I tend to hang onto cars for many years. My last was 9.5 years, lol. But we'll see how this fares with a growing family.

These were already installed the day I drove it off the dealer lot. I do scrape occasionally in the back on steep dips at speed but the material is super thickass rubber so it’s all good. The part # should be 8K9075101 (pulled from Dropshadow’s B8.5 allroad info megathread).

Haha I'm more of the "flavor of the week" kind of guy. I end up with a new car every 2-3 years.

Really really love your AR and what you've done with it! Since we're local to each other, we should try to plan a meet up so I can sample some of your mods for my AR haha! I'm still in a stock state but have plenty of aspiration.

We have baby number 1 due in a few weeks (mid-Feb) so I'll be tied up till spring, but let's keep in touch. Congrats on number 2 for you!

PA luckily doesn't require front plates.
