    Oil

I know there are many topics already discussed on oil already, and I have done my research. However I have chosen to go with Mobil 1 Sythetic 5W30. Lot of positive and a few negative things discussed on Mobil not being full synthetic and using 5W30 weight. So my question is what is everyone on here using for oil? Different Summer and Winter weights? And I feel like 0W40 is just too light.

Which engine? I've always had great luck with Lubro-Moly (LM2041 if I recall) 5w/40 in my Volvos and have been pleased so far with approximately 3,000 miles in my 1.8t. Total Quartz is another quality oil, too.

You need to educate yourself on oil viscosity ratings. A 0w40 is a heavier oil at temperature than a 5w30. The "w" designation is the cold start characteristics of the oil. the second number is the rating at full temperature.

As you can see from the chart a 0w40 will give you better cold start protection as well as remaining thicker at high temperature applications.

So 0W40 is good for our 0 degree winter mornings all around to the 100 degree summer days?

I'll have to switch to Mobil 0w-40 next oil change.
