That kit is incomplete and overpriced. You need the filter adapter from a 1.8T and an adapter plate to make it bolt up. I came very close to doing this on my new motor, but didn't want to deal with adapting the PCV system. If you decide to do the conversion, I have most of the parts you need and can give you the part numbers for the rest.

There's a shop in Long Island that do everything thing for around 1200 I think. What you think about that ?

There is a decnt amount or labor involved, so that price isn't too far off. I bet they don't include the filter adapter though. That means you will be running crazy high pressure.

Actually thats reasonable shop charge. Think about it. $499.00 for a incomplete 1.8 oil pump kit. About another $150.00 to $200.00 to complete the kit. Shop labor

Yeah that's something somebody els had said about the pressure gonna be higher then normal. Is that the only down fall for this conversion ?

The adapter plate for the filter adapter is $200 by itself. Then you need the adapter and sandwich oil cooler and assorted gaskets. I'm pretty sure they just swap the pump.

Swapping the pump only costs $200-250 in parts though. USP just rapes people on their kit, much like their lpfp.

Yeah I might just stick to stock. But getting a good one for a good price is kind of hard man. Not trying to get a used one with too much mileage on it you know what mean.

Axis has one for sale for $300. Buy it and delete the balance shafts and call it a day. As long as the pump doesn't suck metal bits through it, it should last quite a while.

Metal shavings could be from anywhere. From a old previous cam follower failure to worn bearings. Ive seen worn oil pump gears that cause low oil psi also. Could be a combination of many things or just one

I was saying that you don't really have to worry about getting a good used oil pump from somewhere as long as it hasn't sucked in metal chunks that tore up the rotor face. The balance shafts are what you need to worry about, but if you delete them you are fine. Your current pump may not be salvageable if you have already seen metal in the oil. You could get lucky and just have to clean the pickup, but you still need to determine where the metal is from.
