    Wheel Spacer Question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 13 S4 that originally had 19" peelers which I sold. I now have 18" rotor replicas with blizzaks on, endlessly preparing for snow. So I bought ECS spacers thinking they would bring the wheels flush. I bought the 19 peeler OEM wheel flush kit though, which is 8mm for the front and 12.5mm for the rear. I put the rears on first and then realized the rear wheels are still not flush, they do look much better, but they are still 3mm-7mm from being flush.

Of course I go to put the fronts on and the spacers don't sit flush into the wheels because they're designed for the peeler style. So now I just have the rears on. On eBay, I see multiple sets of 10mm/15mm with bolts, but they always say they don't fit the S4/A4. Is that because the front OEM wheel design? Because if that's the only issue, than I should be able to use them. Anyone the answer to this question?

    My options are:

Sell the whole set, buy a 10mm/15mm kit from wherever (if I can confirm the fronts will fit with aftermarket wheels)

Sell just the fronts, buy regular 8-10mm ones from ECS. My issue with this though is that then I have a mix of a kit that will prob not be worth anything if I go to sell in the future.

Looking for info/suggestions. Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

The first question is : What are your wheels specs ? (Width and ET)
And then you should know what to choose.

I don't think anyone is going to care whether the fronts and rears are matched when buying used. You may not be able to sell them as a full set later if the spec is odd ball.

I believe there has been some discussion about spacers less than 10mm. Above that number and there is a small ring on the spacer which helps to center the wheel; below and there isn't enough space to machine the additional feature and you're relying on a very small lip from the factory hub to center the wheel. I think I may have read where some people were concerned about the wheels not being concentric to the wheel bearings because of misalignment allowed by this condition.

So you will have some troubles having spacers:

    Let me explain:
8" wide + ET 35 = 8.5" wide + ET 41 (whereas stocks 19" are 43) so you poke 2 mm further than 19" OEM peelers or rotors.

for a quite conservative set up, you would need 6-8 mm front and 8 mm rear

But i would personnaly stay away from spacers Under 10 mm : they do not have any centering lips (--> vibrations ) or only too little centering cone (like the ECS 8mm) that may lead to too much stresses in the lug bolts .

Yours wheels are still quite well without spacers anyway.

    Best regards,

    Mathieu

Edit: I re read your first post and i am verry astonished that your ECS flush kit don't flush well... Maybe Something is wrong ? did you have the correct wheeles specs??

OK, so your Wheel are definitively not 18X8 ET 35. If they were, They should be more than flush with 12.5 mm spacers !! ;o)

    See you !

They are Andros R9's. They only come 18x8 +35mm. So I'm confused. I agree with you on that they should be flush but they're not.
