Did everyone get their headlights releveled after lowering? Mine are pointing a little down. Can I do it myself? One dealership wants $250

There should be adjustment knobs on top of each housing. I am sure there is a tutorial on here somewhere. Search the S4 forums if nothing pops up here.

Park on Level ground facing a wall or garage door and with the headlights turned on in low beam mark a reference point at where the top of the beam is against the wall/ door with chalk and also where your front wheels are on the pavement. Locate the Allen head plastic screw at top of headlight assembly and turn "slowly" in up direction. Go one full turn but mark the spot you started on in case you've gone too high that you can lower the beam.

Drive car for reference to see if any additional adjustment is required. Park car again at same location of chalk marks on pavement if you need to readjust after driving.

NOTE: You DO NOT want to point beams too high to blind / annoy incoming traffic !

So, silly question I keep forgetting to ask when these threads pop up... Does this apply to the 'non-adaptive' headlights in Premium Plus models, or only to the fancy-dancy ones in Prestige models?

I ask not because I'm stupid (although that has been well-established) but because I've not noticed a difference in the quality of light from when I was at stock ride height.

I think it just depends on "how" you lowered. I suppose if you had a perfectly even drop at all corners, you wouldn't need to re-adjust anything. For my P+, my headlights seemed to be aimed low afterwards, so I followed the first procedure to manually adjust things. I haven't gone in to see if P+ has all the VAGCOM settings though.

Hello Gents, and Happy New Year,
After HAS drop, had it at the dealer. First they say they couldn't figure it out( no VAGCOM options as I tried myself too), but then they said they adjusted them manually (therefore approximately) by popping some top panel out and manhandling the actual lights(!!!). They charged 85$ for that alone.
Also, there are here some DIY threads , I believe.
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers,
    Bob

I got quoted the same $85 for them to hook up and reset using software. I have P+ so I'm thinking this can be done only manually. Anybody else chime in... lowered on HAS and noticeable less visibility the few times I drove at night.

Don't pay. Process is INSANELY easy. If it actually took time or effort the dealership would charge you $500 not $85!

I adjusted mine and it was seriously super easy. Followed process on Ross tech site

So you need the cable or is it turning a screw (manual adjustment)? Just need up/down, not projector tuning.

You know, I used my VAGCOM cable to adjust it. But FWIW it seems like a mechanical adjustment haha. It's a plastic screw on top of the headlight. Each headlamp has two AFAIK - one for height adjustment and one for side to side

    Headlights after lowering

I used a screw driver and just turned the "screw" until both lights were level and as high as my brothers Q. Painless

I had the same problem after swapping suspension. However, I didn't have to manually adjust the headlights. Simply reseting the Home Position using VAG-COM fixed the problem.

    Procedure for Aligning Xenon Headlamps:

    [Select]
[55 - Xenon Range] (For some newer vehicles, use [29 - Left Light] instead )
    [Basic Settings - 04]
    Group 001
    [Go!]

Wait at least 20 seconds for the headlamp motors to move. The headlamps are now in their adjustment position. Turn on headlights. Adjust them via their manual adjusting screws as referenced against a suitable aiming target.

Scroll up to Group 002. The Xenon Range controller has now learned this position as its Home position.

Click the [Done, Go Back] button and you're all set.
