275/30/20 dws or 255/35/19 blizzak lm 32's for winter duty?

sounds like a crazy question, I know, an all season vs a dedicated winter tire... here are my reasons..

ran the lm 32's last year and I hated them... possibly the worst winter tire I've personally ever had... terrible snow and ice traction despite the great reviews... so the tire shop tells me it is a size issue and they believe any tire in the 255/35/19 size will be bad

which brings me to the dws... they performed quite admirably in our first winter storm a few days ago, albeit wet snow and not frigid temps

so, I'm wondering if the dws will hold up or if I'd be better served in going with the lm's now... the dws also seem to have a more aggressive tread pattern for snow bite and since I'm lowered now (lowered 1") the extra height of I believe half inch will compensate for those times I could get high centered...

or would you all go for the lm 32's with I would hope their better ice traction (which I did not feel last year) and shorter height by half inch...

honestly, the lm 32 last year felt like I was riding an all season anyways

thank for listening to my new years eve rant, lol and any opinions or personal experience would be appreciated.

    happy new years!

How much tread did your LMs have? Blizzaks have what are called "snow platforms which are situated @ 6/32". If the tread is any less, their performance in snow is vastly decreased to the point where it's considered a worn out "snow tire" but will still function to get you around.

I can't comment on the blizzaks or dws on an AWD car, but I did have the dws on a V8 Mustang in the Minneapolis area and they did fine. Not 100% perfect, but as long as I wasn't an idiot I could get where I needed to go, my car was a bit older too so no traction control. Never really lost traction with them. I was running a 285/35/18 on that. I'd give them a shot and worst case, switch over to the blizzaks. Or sell them on craigslist and start over. Hope that helps.

Don't put winters on those 20's. The 19's with the smaller footprint will much outperform the 275 width and larger diameter wheel.
