Call me an idiot please, locked only key inside the engine bay

Hey guys, I made the mistake after being drowsy from work last night, and not having pockets on my pants, I stupidly set my car and my wallet on the little battery cover, inspected the timing belt, and then shut the hood, car beeps, and I realize I left my key behind.

This was my only key, and although I do not need to go out today, I am going to need my car by tomorrow, so going to a dealer to have a new key made is not an option, besides, my wallet is under the hood too...

I know I am an idiot, but please help me get into my car.

Hahaha, I'd prefer to not break the window for now, but thank you for the quick reply. Any other suggestions?

EDIT: If there is anyway to open the hood without the release latch being pulled, that would work.

The latch is bolted to the hood and the radiator support, the cable runs from the support, down the fender, through the firewall and into the cabin. (No short cut to opening the hood)

Calling a locksmith will be cheaper than a broken window.

Okay, we are currently attempting to get a rod into the wedge we made at the door, we have something that would work, if it was a little longer, it seems that a locksmith might be the only option at this point then.

    A. Why were you checking your timing belt after work?

    B. What kind of job do you have that requires non pocketed pants? Are you a wrestler?

    C. If you have like a 3' long or longer flat head screw driver or some kind of skinny pry bar you can go from underneath the car and flip the latch thats behind the grille. It will open. I saw a buddy of mine do it. G/L

Oh haha well the first one is a long story but it is on its way out and I don't want it to fall apart before I get to tearing apart my car in a couple of weeks when my friend comes up.

    I work at a cafe

I have opened the latch from below with a long rod when the cable came out of the guide.

Do you have AAA? Just call them and they'll open the door. Also, I have been told that if you call the police (don't use 911, call the non emergency number) some of them have the same equipment as AAA to get into your car for you

Get your VIN from the window and head down to the dealer to have them cut a new key. You need a spare anyways.

Intestingly, AT&T offers locksmith services if you have phone service through them. I was astounded that they offer this, and have used it twice (neither time on my car, but for friends in your situation) I only have a valet key for my car, so it's easy not to lose it since I always lock my car even in my garage lol. Long flat head screw driver and use it to pry the secondary hood release .. normally the primary is released from inside the cabin and the secondary is near the hood (redundancy so hood does not flip over if one latch fails).

If you call AAA, they will undoubtedly slightly damage your window trim by putting a wedge into the door small enough to get a rod/pry tool to press the un-lock button.

Thank you everybody! We managed to hook a wire hanger over the handle by wedging the door, pulled it hard enough and it unlocked, even though the security lights were still blinking. Definitely going to get a second key made though, and no locking without the key in hand from now on.
