Got a low oil pressure warning come up on my 06 A4 today for the first time. Car has been acting a little strange after cold starts, I can hear rattling until the car gets warmed up but when idling after starting there's a definite rattle that seems to come from the front of the engine. After a 10 minute drive while cruising on the highway, a low oil pressure warning popped up then went away. I kept on driving home and the warning went away and came back I think 3 times. I didnt notice any sort of pattern to it then.
Just took the car out again tonight and couldn't get the light to come back after driving around for a while. As we were slowing down and pulling into the driveway, the light came back on. Turned the car on then off and the light was gone. After going up and down the road multiple times, we could get the low oil pressure warning to come on but only after slowing down from ~50mph.
So yeah, low oil pressure comes on but only after slowing down from cruise speed. Turn the car off then back on and the warning is gone. Think its the oil pump tensioner(?) which broke. Going to check the oil pan for floating bits but still confused as to why it only happens when slowing down.
