    B8.5 S4 DSG Fluid

'14 S4 with DSG here, 35,013 on the clock, and know I need to do the service. I did not buy Audicare for the car, and plan to DIY it -

My main question is which fluid to use - I've been trying to find the Audi DSG fluid spec to cross-reference to VW and simply can't find it. All VW will say is that their DSG fluid is a different part number than the one from Audi (not surprising) but the cost is significantly different, and I have a VW dealer about 3 miles from me, vs 40 to the nearest Audi place.

Yes, I've thought about getting it all from ECS or another online shop, but I'm more of an impulse buyer and like to physically have it in my hand (plus I'd like to do it this coming weekend, if possible).

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for any help!

I just recently did this. This is the kit I've used https://www.europaparts.com/dsg-tran...5-7-speed.html, its significantly cheaper the ECS and comes with everything needed. I called around for prices but the Audi dealer where I live is ridiculously over priced. Also I recommend getting the bolts that go around the pan (they are one time use stretch bolts), I ended up snapping one so I had to drill it out which was a PITA, so get you're self 15 of those bolts they're like 40-50 cents a pieces (my dealer wanted 2.50$ each, like I said way over priced). Good luck, it's a very messy job and if you've ever dealt with gear oil this shit gets everywhere and doesn't wipe up easily.

Also, I'm not quite sure it's the same fluid from VW as it is from Audi, but if you look at the website with the link I've provided and you shop for DSG fluid for a GTI (which is what VW would seel you) the same OIL pops up, so i'm sure it's the same, but don't quite me on it.

Propose adding the stretch bolts to Europa as part of the kit, they will probably do it.

Honestly I may just let my dealer do the whole 35K service. They only want 450 to do the entire service. The parts for everything are going to cost like 300-350.

Considering the expensive and troublesome nature of these DSGs, I would NOT use anything other than Genuine VW/Audi DSG fluid.

Yes, I would use only OEM parts and fluid when doing the service. I am sure other reputable fluids would be fine, but I would be very hesitant if you had a problem and the dealer somehow found out you used other fluid. Might not warranty it. You never know.

Yes, I can't say about what Audi does about fluid. But when it worked for Mitsu they would test the fluid in their CVT's and their DSG's before they offered warranty if the unit needed replaced.

Plus look at the cost of it over 35K miles. Its not something your doing every 10K or something.

I also opted for the dealership service. I remember it was about $480. Well worth it.

Going to attempt this myself next weekend. I have read through the DIY's but they are for the B8, not 8.5. Here are 2 items on Amazon that should make the job easier, I already have a Motive pressure bleeder.

I am only doing the external filter now, might do the internal at 75K, but it's not recommended even by Audi service at that point.

Question is, where is the external filter? In the engine bay like the VW or under the car?
