Cool Ignantt 2012 Audi TT RS Build

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Figured I'd get my build out in the eyes of the public, finally. There's been a lot of progress so far (but compared so some builds I've seen on here... I have a long way to go ).

    Intro

I'll start with the run down of some of what I'd like to achieve with my vehicle:
    • Unique appearance
    • TT's are cool and all... but I want mine to really stand out (sorry, not a "purist")
    • I love the look of satin/frozen
    • Red/black has always been my favorite color combo
    • Interested in making my car look unique without getting too aggressive (i.e. super camber, 20 foot spoilers, strobing underglow lights, etc...)
    • Techy systems/gadgets for the driver and passengers
    • I've found sports cars in this price range seem to be lacking on some of the really cool tech that's coming out in a lot of consumer cars (heck, my 2011 BMW didn't even have nav!)
    • For me, the driving experience goes beyond just pedal/steering/shifter... I want convenience for my digital life
    • I don't want to forget my passenger (yeah, probably max of one in this car ), so anything to make the ride more enjoyable for them
    • Bagged suspension for a super-sexy look
    • I don't want to lose much on the performance aspect vs the magnetic suspension that comes stock
    • Performance that rivals/surpasses the next tier of cars up from the TT RS (like... the R8, let's say!)
    • ... Smells like a bigger turbo to me.

    Progress Gallery

Here's me saying bye to my BMW 135i M-Sport:

Here are a few shots of my white TT RS after I had bought it:

And after this point, I started with some of the modifications to my car. Don't get me wrong, the car was awesome stock. But... I knew it could be awesomer. Yeah. Awesomer.

Some shots of the car after it was wrapped in 3M matte red:

And then came the new air intake. I had an aftermarket intake on my 135 and absolutely loved the sound of air rushing in... I knew I wanted that on my TT:

And then came the new air suspension:

And now that snow is upon us here in Southern Ontario, I'm looking to redo the headunit with a Nexus 7:

My Caractere carbon fiber blade mod:

    Next Steps

I still have a lot I want to do, but here's a short list:
    • Rims... Looking at Rohana or Vossen 7 spoke rims... in black. Considering hydrodip but I haven't figured out what pattern I'd get
    • Need to finish up this head unit! Waiting on a new harness from Enfig.
    • By the end of 2016, I want to be on my way to getting my performance parts in place
    • Interior lighting needs a huge upgrade. Stock stuff is SO dim, and I'd like something fancier for a "show-mode"
    • I'd love to get an illuminated+weighted shifter knob... OSIR brand, perhaps?

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to share it on here (I didn't notice it in the rules, so mods let me know and I'll gladly remove it (sorry in advance!)) but I blog about the details of the build over here:

And my Instagram generally has some latest & greatest "artsy" shots of the car:

(Again, if it's against the rules to link to these things I'll remove them!)

I'll keep posting as some of the bigger parts come in or as some notable progress is made. Let me know what you think!

very nice; especially the wrap. One or two suggestions in my humble opinion.

The CAI that you have really isn't a cold air induction unit since you will always have warm engine air entering the engine.

Also in lieu of a new Turbo charger consider a "true" CAI and tuning your engine and tranny with software from APR.

Here is the link that will explain everything that they can do for you TT. Also a list of vendors that can preform the perform the work

    https://www.goapr.com/

About 2 months ago I bought a 2001 Ice Silver 2.0 quattro with red leather interior and nav system.

I had the level 1 upgrade to my engine and now have approximately 241 hp that started at 211. I am now considering the Level 11 upgrade with down pipe. Also had their tranny TCU upgrade done at the same time.

Look for the Carbino "true CAI" also on the link. Choose "Audi".

One question for you. how is the wrap holding up to stone chips providing you had the TT on the road long enough to tell.

I may get mine done with clear wrap.

IMHO... United Motorsports has a much more actively developed tune for the TT-RS now days. There was a point in time when APR and UM were close, but UM has continued to develop/improve their tunes for the 2.5L TFSI engine. Much more "future proof" if/when you ever go with an upgraded turbo.

Nice build BTW. I am in the planning process for an Android based Infotainment system for my TT-RS. I even had a N7 to use, but managed to destroy it :-(

Haven't been back on the forums in a while. Just other stuff going on in life I suppose, but this car season has been AWESOME. Excited to show you guys and gals where we've gotten to with Ignantt.

@bontrager: Sorry for the extremely late reply... Wrap is 2 years old now and has held up amazingly. Stone chips in the front, but I've got my shop to patch them up pretty well.

    - Dropped the Nexus 7 head unit. After putting in far too much time, it just wasn't shaping up to be what I wanted.
    - Haven't touched anything performance still. Just focused on nailing the cosmetics for how I wanted the car to look.

With that said... Let's start with some pictures!

I've been extremely busy this year trying to get the car out to as many meets and shows as I can. It really started picking up in the second half of summer. I was able to get out to some big events in Canada like Importfest, Eurokracy, and Berlin Klassik as well as down to the US for GRIDLIFE.

For the car build, cosmetically I think I'm about where I want to be for now. I plan to re-theme the car not for next season but likely the following season. Just something fresh and different, even though I love the red and black.

I'm hoping for over this winter I can get a local shop to install an Iroz Motorsport IMS850 kit into the TT. I'm just trying to work out all of the details right now though :)
