Black housing headlights (post face lift)

Just curious if any of my fellow q5 owners crack open these headlights and paint the housing?
I've retrofitted hids on my previous car before, but curious if anyone has done it here.
And if so which method did you use? Bake, heat gun, or soldering cutter?

If you end up painting the housings, please post pics. It definitely sounds like it could look good with other black optic components.

If I find a cheap one on eBay I'll try it for fun. I think baking would be the way to go since heat gun and flathead doesn't seal well when putting it back together.
