Yesterday went to royal farms to get air , i had no way of getting around the things that stick up out of the ground , i heard a scrape . Now my oil pan is leaking very bad to the point where it can not be driven . I checked it out its leaking from the front of the pan at the mating point . Some input would be nice if you think its bent or cracked possibly . Thanks

those cast pans don't bend, they crack/break/shatter, hope and pray you did not muck up the upper pan cause they're a bit of a bitch to change, I'd just pull the motor to repair that, lower pan is easy to change and only $60 for a new one.

Try and get some pics so we can see

It's most likely just the lower pan that's cracked and leaking, it takes surprisingly little effort to break those unfortunately.

Yes - he said if your upper was damaged as well.

If it is just the lower pan then that's not a big deal to order and replace. You'll obviously have to order: new lower pan, sealant, and oil for an oil change.

Sorry to hear about that! I scrape all the time and freak out every time I do.
hey, quick question...do you have the plastic skid plate on?
if you do and it still cracked the pan, i think i'm going to get either the Thor or Panzer skid plate.

I'm noob here (1st post) and have had my B5 since 7/14. really like the info and the discussions here.

Damn. I drove over a parking block before in my 97 1.8t. I scraped the heater off the pan and got the car stuck. It sucks that so little ruined your pan.

Replace lower pan, use Permetex Anerobic to seal it, get a panzer plate for future protection.

i've hit so much shit (mostly snow debris etc) with my panzer... best 250 i spent on the car....

I got a thor skid plate (not saying mine is better than the other ones, i honestly couldnt tell you) and its probably saved my ass 3 times since i installed it 2 months ago. Definitely worth the investment. But its too low for me, im going to raise the car up a bit.

A coincidence? Possible that it was leaking before you scraped. Snub mount bolts to the upper oil pan so if you're sure that's where it's leaking from...

Btw, did you notice that whoever bought your imola is now trying to turn around and sell it for $10.5K

Take the snub mount bracket off and see if the upper pan somehow cracked behind it? This is a strange one for sure. There's only so many places on the front of these motors for oil to leak from. If it's spewing bad enough that you're scared to drive it then it shouldn't be impossible to find.

He just rounded the mileage down, some people man, I swear. Lol
