What would be typical lumens of older halogen?

Was thinking of putting HID in my 96 A6 since they have projector housings despite being halogen. They are very unimpressive especially compared to my allroad with clear lenses and Philips XV and I'm looking to upgrade them. This deal is very tempting but I want something properly bright.

Stock halogen would give around 1200lm.
LED's are brighter than halogen and bright enough to be used as main driving lights but I would still recommend going with HID lights for main driving lights.
HID light gives about 3200lm (4300K), which is brighter than 2500lm given by LED's. There are LED's advertised to give 4000lm but based on what we have tested, reliability was not stable on those.

Not the answer I wanted Mike, just tell me what I want to hear! Haha

So if those numbers are to be trusted I should be happy with the LEDs seeing how they're 2x brighter than halogen, and indeed the bulbs on this particular car are exceptionally weak, exact same headlights in my other C4 put out much more light.

Without doing a search on your site do you offer an HID kit? Price is crucial because this is meant to be a dead reliable and cheap (unmodded) daily so I can go crazy on another car. I feel I should upgrade headlights as a safety issue though. I believe they're H7? I've never replaced one on either car.

Sorry, I wish I can just tell you what you wanted to hear but I prefer to be honest. lol
96' A6 uses two different bulb types; 9006 for early model and H1 for later model.
Yes, LED would give you more lighting output than halogen with clean white color.
However, when the numbers are twice higher does not mean that you will actually feel twice brighter.
Number specs are measured by the lumen meter, which is a bit different from human eyes.
Yes, LED's are still brighter than halogen no matter what but I would rather put HID kit on it instead. It's up to you though. Sorry to confuse you.

We do have Blesk aftermarket HID kit available at $159 and we offer 10% discount for AZ members.
You can find cheaper kits (20-30 bucks on ebay) for the ones made in China but what we offer is Korean made, Canbus function and we do honor real warranty through us.
If you have any problem during the warranty period, you just give us a call and we will take care of it for you.

Ha, no I really appreciate the honesty. It's just deciding whether the HID is twice as good as the LED.

Thank you for the info, I'll pick up one or the other from you. I like to support forum venders.

I think I'll go for the HID just because you twisted my arm. One final question though, because the C4 has projector halogens will I simply be plugging in the kit and it will have a nice beam pattern right out of the box?

Yes, it should be good enough.
Some lighting experts may say to swap out the projectors but that's the extra next level I wouldn't bother with.
