I'm looking at these for my Subaru Forester. Which is an H4 bulb. And the headlights have those rubber boots that fit over them bulbs for water protection. Does this kit have a seal on the bulb itself since the heat sinks on see bulbs stick out and I can't put the boot back on?

We actually tried on H4 headlamps before.
You need to slide LED unit (without H4 base) through the rubber boot, put the H4 base on LED unit, secure it with the retaining clip on headlamp housing, put the rubber boot on, and flex out the copper heat-sink.

How do they function as headlights? Is the beam everywhere or actually focused?

Compared to halogen light (approx.1300lm), LED's give 2500lm, which is much brighter.
Beam pattern is not too bad but honestly, when it's used on chrome reflector, it would not be focused like projector beam.
IMO, it is better to use HID for low beam headlamps and use LEDs for fogs.

Call us to order for 1/2 of kit.
IMO, motorcycles can be little tricky since they usually use third adaptor piece between the bulb and prong.
In other words, if there is no bulb adaptor thingy, you are good to go.

Got any solutions for the turning spotlights (or whatever they're called)? It's rather annoying how dim and poorly matched they are to the headlights.

You are referring to cornering lights I assume.
It uses H7 light and you can use the LED light as well.
We haven't tested on B8 S4 but we tried it on Porsche Macan and cornering light worked perfectly fine with dimming down and brighten up feature.

I just picked up a set of Philips bulbs off their site for my reverse lights.. I didn't read if they will be error free anywhere on the post but I had just placed an order of their fog lights so I figured might as well try out these. We will see if they work error free and I will post my findings.

Install was a piece of cake for the fog lights. I'm amazed at the throw these things have. I'll admit I don't normally drive with my fog lights on because I dislike the yellow halogen appearance, I feel it breaks up the look of the front end. I know there are others who love the deep yellow look, just not for me. These h8 bulbs match really well with the drl led strip and hid projector.

I normally don't buy into led/hid conversions but these look so good I went ahead and purchased a set of the h7s to try on my cornering lights. I found the write up for the macan installation but I think our housings are a bit smaller, I'm not sure all the electronics will fit in behind the rubber weather close out cap. I'll report back with my findings on the h7 bulbs at the cornering light location.

Everyone's got the basic led vs halogen comparison!

Fog lights off, drl and headlight on:

Fog lights on, note the additional visibility of the garage door across the street, the bushes to the right, and the white fences across the street.

Factory h8 fog light, after removing wheel well liner:

Led bulb installed, heat sink fanned out:

    Wiring secured:

Silly question, the passenger side puts more light on the ground. The driver side seems to scatter slightly an not put as much on the ground, I did not get a look in the daytime but I'm guessing it needs to be rotated a little more. So, should the bulb be installed vertical [|] or horizontal =? I'll take a look tomorrow to make sure the driver side matches the passenger.

It needs to be vertical after being properly installed.

NOTE: for anyone wanting to try these lights at the cornering/adaptive light position, these will not work (at least not on b8.5, ymmv). Unfortunately these will throw a code in that position and disable the system from functioning. My fog lights continue to work fine, just some reason the adaptive lights don't like these bulbs. Bummer, I was really looking forward to throwing some serious side lighting in the turns.
