    2016 A4 headlight replacement

    Hey all!

I think I've seen similar posts about this topic, but I thought I would get an updated response to this question.

I bought my A4 last month, and after being backed into in wal mart, I got the car fixed. It was a minor scrape on the driver side fender pretty much directly under the light. I had the car fixed and all was good. Well yesterday I got a warning that the driver's light and running light were out. Which leads me to a couple of questions:

    1) I have an appointment with the dealer I got the car from to investigate this. Is this something that reasonably is going to be covered by warranty, or are they going to give me a hard time from being backed into?

    2) If it's not covered by warranty, can we ball park what it's going to cost to replace? I don't really want to get ripped off since I literally just bought the car.

    Thanks in advance guys!

    Matt

If you got backed into by someone and they caused damage this sounds like an insurance problem.

If the damage isn't noticeable or has been fixed I wouldn't mention anything and see what they say. It's also highly unlikely that being backed into in a parking lot would cause an electrical failure.

whoever fixed it should gotten those codes cleared. try them again.

audi might charge you but it doesnt hurt to ask. also insurance should be covering the cost.

headlights are expensive... at least a gran each..

So I guess to add to the information; the guy who backed into me didn't leave a note, so I paid out of pocket.
I'm thinking what might have happened is a small gap that allowed water behind the panel? Theres condensation on the inside of the panel, maybe leading to a short?
Audi already knows about the incident; I asked for a quote to fix it when it happened but ended up taking it elsewhere.

Take it to a different dealership lol.

Either way that shouldn't cause condensation. They are pretty tightly sealed lights (I pulled mine apart).

Good thought. Why didn't I think of that. Thanks for that!
So you're thinking maybe I'll get lucky with warranty?

This is not a warranty issue. You had damage to the headlight assembly caused by an accident. If you had no issues prior to the accident, very likely that Audi will not cover this.

Talk to your insurance. Better to just pay the deductible than shell out for a new assembly.
