    RS7

Well, it's been about a month since I upgraded from the S7 to the RS7 and I couldn't be happier.

I've been fortunate to have owned a crazy stable of really high-end sports cars and luxury performance cars, which allows me to make real comparisons and judgements between them with real world experience and living day to day with them. I've had 11 911s, 10 Vettes, M3, M4, M5, M6, CLS55, Maserati, etc... as well as lesser variants like a 650 GC or 550.

This RS7, completely stock, is the greatest daily driver I have ever owned. I'm literally in love with the car. The power and acceleration, the real world handling, the exhaust note, the comfort, the multiple personalities with Drive Select. It is the best all around car I've ever had the pleasure of driving. I am a huge Porsche guy, and it blows me away that Audi has a more complete package than the Panamera.

There are a few faults of course. The only option I don't have is the B&O, and the Bose system is just subpar in this class and price of car. Because I have the Cold Weather Package I lose the flat bottom wheel, which is just stupid because there is no reason that can't be fitted with heating.

That's it. Those are the only negatives that come to mind. I know not everyone here can afford the RS7, and the S7/S6 are amazing cars in their own rights. But if you can, I strongly suggest that you do because I don't think American consumers are going to be able to continue buying 550+ hp cars in the near future because of all of the cafe and regulation.

    We are quite fortunate.

Glad you're happy with it! Was your S7 tuned? I'm curious how the feel compares between those two. I'll find out tomorrow...

Interesting take because i have a friend who owns a 2013 S7 and is seriously considering a panamera turbo for his next vehicle. I'm trying to talk him into an RS7 but i think he really digs the panamera style.

My S7 was tuned and lowered via Vag-Com.

There really is no comparison between that and an RS7. So much more than just the power difference. Suspension, sound, the entire setup of the car. Completely different feel.

As far as Panamera Turbo, it is an amazing car. I would venture to say that at the limit or near it, the Panamera is more rewarding to drive. But none of us really drives like that. The Panamera Turbo is also at least $40k more, probably $60k once optioned. Looks are subjective but the Panamera is just awkward looking compared to the RS7, BMW M6, or other competitors.

That's what I would go with as well. It's no deny that at the limit on the track Panamera Turbo will drive better than RS7 but how often we get to drive like that and IMO these cars are not really meant to be on the track by design. I have tried really hard to at least not hate how Panamera looks but I really can't get over it so it's not even a choice for me to consider when I was looking for a new car.

I also like the look of the 6 Series and I was really close to get one but my bias for Audi won at the end so I ended up with RS7 instead.

I drove both the S7 and the RS7 back to back last night and to be honest, I didn't really get enough of an opportunity to make the distinctions the OP is mentioning. Both cars were just very, very nice, and very, very fast.

It's going to be a difficult decision...

I plan on getting myself into one of these. Hopefully it will be my next vehicle. Ill be looking at 2014 CPOs when the time comes. These things seem to be the best thing Audi ever built as far as a full package vehicle. I think it will go down in history as a classic.

I don't understand the need to confirm that an RS7 is different than an S7 tuned? I've only heard about this twice, both times from you OP. Where are these discussions that a tuned S7 is 'like an RS4'?? Never heard of anyone presuming that before.

All that said, glad you found a ride you're happy with!!

I think you're right about the bolded, and it is one of the main reasons I'm entertaining the thought of spending the extra dough.

S4Per, if you read 2 posts prior to my response that you seem to have issues with, you will notice that I was responding to a direct question.

I am in no way knocking or comparing the S7 and RS7.

I'm relaxed and I don't have any issues with your response...I'm just surprised that someone would think throwing a tune on an S7 would make it like an RS7?? Seems really far fetched as they're completely different cars built for different purposes.
I guess your two threads are the only ones where I've seen it brought up, hence my asking if/where this is really a discussion topic.

Are they really THAT different? And I am not trying to be sarcastic...I am legitimately interested.

I would say they're both luxury performance cars. The S7 puts luxury in front of performance. The RS7 focuses first on performance within a given band of luxury. That philosophy and approach goes into nearly every aspect of the cars being built, and it's a very big difference putting one in front of the other. So, on the surface they might 'look' alike, but they're actually very different....which is something OP has found out for himself! :)

It's probably my fault since I'm in a tuned S6 and anxious to know the difference between the two cars... have a test drive today but it's pouring like Noah just built an ark so not sure if I'm going to get a good feel. Wonder if I can talk him into taking my car for a couple days and holding onto the RS7 for an extended drive.

Am I correct to assume you have the DRC suspension now?

No, I do not have DRC.

The air suspension is calibrated differently for the RS7 as compared to S6/S7.

I see. I love how customizable the air suspension is.

I opted for the DRC, and believe it can take the Porsche pana around the track. (however... I have never driven both back to back)
