engine reinstall, quick mount question before I proceed

so I bought 034 engine mounts for my build. doing my reinstall. I marked both of the aluminum engine mount brackets underneath where the previous engine mounts were bolted through, but I think the markings were washed away when I cleaned the bay. anyway, got both mounts lined up and dropped the engine in. I installed the mount screws in the center holes on both.

issue is, I went underneath the car to start connecting my linkage and the trans and downpipes are skewed left toward the passenger side. this would mean I'd have to relocate the driver side mount to the rear hole. does this sound accurate? I could've sworn both of my previous mounts were positioned in the middle. it's worth noting I converted this from tip to 6 speed, not sure that would matter whatsoever.

Can't tell where they were from the washers and screws use to be?

I looked, and I see markings from the center. but then again, I washed the bay and everything throughouly so I'm struggling to say yes definitively.

there's no way this thing is right as it sits. something is off. the driver side downpipe is 1/8" from touching the heat shield. passenger side has 3"+ of clearance. trans is also skewed left

Yea. That doesn't sound right. I'll take some pics when I get home tomorrow.

Not sure if this will help you or not, but here's where my factory mount sat.

do you have a pic of underneath? it's the driver side sucker that seems maybe out of whack. 034's top and bottom mount nuts aren't offset, correct? they seem pretty centered

okay so this gets a little more funky or simple. I just tried installing the trans mount center bolts and voila, they go in like a charm. so if the engine mounts were off from where they should be mounted, the trans mounts shouldn't line up as the subframe/frame rails haven't changed one bit in this entire thing.

so why in the hell is there so little room for the driver downpipe and trans skewed left toward the drivers side? is that normal? I don't want to button this thing up and be off kilter

I can't find a pic of the passenger side. Here's the driver's side:

that's how mine is. looks like everything is lined up the way it is. that driver side downpipe is pretty close. I also measured distances from each side of the engine fromt and rear to the firewall. they're identical. it looks like it's correct. most likely the am downpipe is much larger than stock and that's why it seems so much closer
