Get audi approved oil and yes you need a filter. Might want a cabin filter too.

From the sounds of this you might want to pay a reputable place to do it for you

I agree with 14S4GWM; the place that would do it for you should have everything and they usually wont use parts/oils that you bring in yourself. If you're planning to tackle this yourself, you should be sure you have the right tools and do some more research on oils and filters, or have a friend help you out who knows how to do this.

Changing your own oil is easy, but if you put the wrong stuff in there, not only would it be bad for your engine, but it could also void your warranty which means you'd be SOL if something were to go wrong.

I'll help provide any info for whatever questions you have but if you're planning on doing it yourself, you should read up on it a bit more first.

    LOL.

OP. You mentioned in another thread that your car is leased. Why not just take it to the dealer for the oil change?

Tthe dealer could void warranty if you dont use OEM filter....I know they are made by Mann but I have read a few people say their dealer telling them it would void warranty. Why risk it? OEM Filter can be found for around $10 shipped then get any VW502.00 approved oil like Mobile 1 Euro Spec 0w-40, Castrol Euro Spec 0w-40, Pentosin, Liqui Molly, etc....

yea i dont think this guy should be changing oil on his own. my gut feeling says hell be taking it to jiffy lube.
i mean if youre gonna ask if you need to change the filter when youre changing oil, i dont really think he knows what hes doing.

I wouldn't let a quick lube touch one of these cars. After my free service coupons ran out, I would take my Acura to a Honda dealer for oil changes and would also go there for quick needs on parts. They use the same stuff as the Acura dealer but at about 60% the cost. All before I got a house with a garage, again. So, the point is, maybe a VW dealer would be cheaper than Audi and less risk than Jiffy Lube.

I bought my wife a 2015 honda CRV (what she wanted) and she took it to jiffy lube last month....needless to say, i was not pumped. Its too bad there isnt places that are quick, easy, and high quality. I guess those 3 concepts dont work together.

I guess its not possible because the only people willing to work there arent going to be master techs.

Yeah anyone and everyone seems to think the stupidest shit voids their warranty, and why do these threads even get answered when it's answered almost daily.

What the hell lol OP, you should definitely do this. If you were just wanting to learn to do an oil change for the first time, then that's great. But this isn't the way to learn how. You might be violating your lease if you changed it yourself as well.

I'm sure plenty of your friends that happen to be "petrolheads" or whatever term people use will help ya out. Good luck.

You can get those three things but it won't be cheap, and if it was cheap the skilled labor won't make enough for their skills. Thus is the paradox. It is like a race car - there are 3 options but you can only have 2 at one time - fast, cheap, reliable...

Absolutely false. They cannot void the warranty because you used a competing brand of oil or filter - that is specifically defined in the Magunson-Moss Act. As long as it meets the manufacturers specs you can use any damn fluid or filter you want.

I know that....most people on here know that.....but there have been people coming on this board and other audi forums saying their dealer has told them not using an OEM filter (could claim the oem filter is the only audi spec filter) and not using vag 502 oil will void their warranty. My point is I can get an OEM VW filter cheaper than I can get an aftermarket filter. Why even let VAG USA have the chance to use that against you if you had a catastrophic failure? If you look hard enough you can get a VW OEM Filter for $10 or less shipped on ebay. When I see a good deal, I will buy a few and keep in my garage.

My dealer would not address my oil consumption issue back in the day since I did not have OEM oil filter installed by another shop. They did so only after the following oil change with OEM filter installed.

Read your audi owners manual and warranty manual. It outlines everything about maintaining your ride properly so your warranty won't be voided
