    widebody questions

    Hey fellow audi lovers,
I've been itching to take on a widebody project for some time now. I don't want to widebody my avant, but a friend recently picked up a c4 a6 avant and is game to widen it up a little. My question to the community is is there any widebody c4's running around anywhere? Maybe compatible fenders from another model or just going to have to be all out custom? Custom wouldn't be an issue, but something similar to how the b5 guys wb their cars would be preferred.*

    A little backround:
I've been a welder/fabricator for about 9 1/2 years, and have done more rocker panels/cab corners/fender patches than I can remember or care to count, though I am a little nervous here. This will be my first wb conversion, but I'm extremely excited and want to make sure all bases are covered well and to not leave anything out or overlook anything (hence the thread looking for opinions). If custom is the route im going to have to take, 1.5 to 2" "extension" of the fenders is what we're looking at as of now. Any suggestions/pointers are highly appreciated.

We are still in the looking/talking/figuring stage as of now, so hopefully some concrete info can give him the incentive to move forward

I /think/ I remember reading that the S6 has wider fenders but it's nothing like the C4 A vs S, that being the case I don't think it's worth while to go OEM. You can pull the fenders a bit as they're all steel unlike the newer aluminum front wings. Beyond that I can't speak from experience so hopefully others give you some great info. REALLY looking forward to results as I have a C4 I wouldn't mind toying around with too.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the notes 4rings! I'm trying to get some solid info to throw at him so we can move forward. We may start with a pull/roll and see where that puts us, but I don't think that's quite going to satisfy the hunger, ha! As previously stated, we are in the discussions stage now, but hoping to make some physical progress soon. May prove to be a little difficult as we have conflicting work schedules

Totally understand the pull not being enough, but it could be a start for you. Whatever route you take It's gonna be cool. Just be sure to show all those new money B8 punks that bolt on flares have no class and there's a right way to do it ;)

If its been done, id say somewhere in europe. That is going to be a heck of a project and being that you have a solid 10 years of fab experience, with patience you'll get the job done. Good luck

    Bolt on flares bahahaha!

Thanks for the kind words guys. Maybe a large pull and see where it sits. The car is so straight it may actually look wider than it actually is. Time will tell.

Too lazy to add this to photobucket so here's a link. I simply googled and these are some results:

    Not a 6, but WOW! http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps1771de2f.jpg

Realistic results from a pull: http://germancarsforsaleblog.com/wp-...015/11/WB1.jpg

Thanks for the links. Seems a pull in the front will be sufficient, and a little metal work in the rear. Should also alleviate some of the custom skirt/bumper work as well
