    I know there is no more support for ste which is a huge bummer.
    Long story short i forgot to click disconnect before i pulled out usb. Now when i plug in usb i get a message . Last time device was used, it malfunctioned . Any thoughts on what to do now?

    Unplug it for a while? Like completely unplugged, from everything.

    This is the board that it runs on if you want to attack it from this angle. Looks like a reset button on there.

    There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

    I guess unplugging the battery would be same as unplugging ste unit. I believe there is some kind of battery back up as I have stored my car before with no battery and ste did not need to be re programmed again after storage .

    That would prob work too. Leave it unhooked for a bit.

    It has nonvolatile memory so no need for a battery. Hopefully it "forgets" the muck-up.
