P0442 CEL on but not typical posted solutions/issues 1.8t

My CEL is on on my 05 USP and having a hard time figuring out why. From my forum searching it looks like most people have problems fueling up their vehicles because the venting system for the fuel tank is plugged. Oldguy had a great few posts troubleshooting this, but I haven't had any issues fueling up the car lately. I noticed this last week, but it's in the perfect line of sight where I can't see it, so not really sure how long it's been on. I'll fuel up tomorrow, but doubt anything has changed. My scan is below.

Only observations I have are that the boost at idle or rather vacuuming has slowly been creeping closer to 0. Originally I think I had just shy of 20inHg when I installed it. Now today it's just below 10inHg but boosts fine to about 11-12 PSI. I know I need to get in there and diagnose which line is bad, but that will need two people. Have one guy pinch lines under the hood that should have vacuum and have the other guy monitor the boost gauge.

I'll have to research that oil sensor code as well, that's something I haven't seen.

Most definitely a vacuum leak. Since you are also getting an evap code for a small leak the first thing I would recommend is to disconnect the N80 evap purge valve and cap off the line that connects the purge valve to the "Y" hose. See it it brings your vacuum at idle back to 20inHg. If it does, replace your N80. If it doesn't then hook it back up and start clamping the rest of the vacuum lines connecting to the intake manifold, one at a time. It shouldn't take long to find the culprit.

Check the plug and wiring harness connecting to the oil level sensor on the bottom of the oil pan. I suspect you may find a damaged wire or plug. Are you running a belly pan? If not, the likelihood of a damaged wiring harness or harness plug increases considerably.

Thanks Oldguy. I'll try that out. This is the valve next to the airbox correct? I thought I saw you posted something a while back that showed the layout of the B6 valves and plumbing? I really need to understand what all these things do, and where they can be found. Eventually I'm sure I'll have to start replacing check valves. Have to find the part number for those soon as well.

You're exactly right on me not running a belly pan. I haven't found a replacement and really want to. Can't find those around here it seems. I bet you're right. I better check that soon.

I recently replaced my busted up OEM pan with this one: Clicky click® I had to elongate some of the mounting holes to get them to align properly but for the price I'm happy.

Since you are missing yours you will probably need this one that includes all the mounting hardware. Clicky click®

Another option is to install a metal belly pan for greater protection. Clicky click®

My brother just installed the ECS Street Shield on his wife's recently aquired B6. Really nice unit and adds some peace of mind. He thought it was pretty critical after loaning his B5 to her one day and having it come back with a shiny gash in his Evo Thor skid plate.

Yes the N80 evap purge valve is located above the airbox.

So it's a two piece rather than a one piece? Did yours come with the correct fasteners? At that price, looks like a really good deal

They always have been two piece, its just a matter if you already have the back one on there most cars only have the front one from factory. Mine had neither when i received car and no it comes without the fasteners i think theres a link for it let me look. Also yes its the best deal I've seen out there so far.

There sold in packs of 10 just for a heads up:

    Thank you!

I cleared the codes after scanning and posting and nothing has popped back up. I thought I remember reading if the gas cap wasn't tight this may be a problem as well. Filled with gas yesterday and it had no problem taking 15.xxx gallons without issues. Which from my reading was the main issues/solutions to this specific P0442 code. I'll keep a close eye on it and in the mean time order that front belly pan at least.

Was the rear needed or did it help? Wondering where it would go, I'll have to search.

Its just to cover your trans mostly, its not needed for sure, but i figured i might as well since i had nothing down there and it was only just over $20. Supposedly its supposed to help with the aerodynamics down there. Get that additional 1 mpg yo.

You may laugh but since I had to remove my belly pan as it was junk about 3 years ago, I haven't seen as great of mpg. I'm gonna get both and monitor fuel consumption. Honestly have logged every fill-up since I've owned this car, and it'll be three years shortly. I'll have data to prove it does or doesn't!
Something about being an engineer they say... This type of thing gets me curious and excited to test

Another advantage of running a belly pan is that it will reduce the under hood temperatures substantially. Clicky click®

    Excerpt from the link:

    Ambient temp: 84F
City Streets with Belly pan on: 238F
City streets without belly pan: 274F

    Highway with belly pan: 172F

Belly pans are here and look good. Ordered the quick screws off amazon, rock auto wanted an arm to ship them.

While cleaning the washer fluid sensor I figured I'd take a look at that oil level sensor. From what I can see it's fine and no bad wires. Assuming I'm looking at the right one? I unplugged it, blew it out, and replugged it back in. I'll recheck with vcds
