Need help! Stuck in northern NY with major oil leak

I'm visiting my wife's family for the holidays in Potsdam, NY and my 2005 s4 is leaking oil badly. Actually it started leaking oil on our way up here through the Adirondacks on Christmas Eve. We were losing about a quart every 25 miles, running out of daylight 140 miles from our destination with a screaming 8-month old in the back. One of the most stressful days in my life for sure.

We made it up here but now I need the car fixed before our 500 mile drive back home. I've asked around and it seems like there is literally no one who can work on this car within an hour's drive on the US side of the border. But from some quick searching (through spotty internet) I see there's an active group of Ottawa Audi enthusiasts.

Are there shops folks on here recommend in the Ottawa region? (Preferably south of Ottawa)

    Thanks in advance

Your wife will make you sell this car once its fixed lol. Ok so basically yes, even if you find a mechanic who would work on it, he's not going to find parts up there (parts delivery to any shop will take atleast a day). If you've got your passports go to Kingston VW on the Ontario side. I feel your pain, my B5 S4 broke down in the middle of nowhere and i ended up renting a trailer and towing it back to my city the next day.

Thanks for the tip. Would the same be true of VW in Cornwall. It's closer to where I'm staying than Kingston.

I gotta say I've thought about selling it myself. This is my second s4 and I absolutely love both (first was stolen) but we enjoy roadtrips and I dunno if I can trust taking one in this car now that we have a kid.

Kingston is an Audi/VW dealer while Cornwall is just VW. In Cornwall they may have interchangeable parts with VW in stock, but if you need Audi-specific parts it'll take a day or so to get them in. That said, even if you're at an actual Audi dealer they may not stock what you need and it'll have to be ordered in anyways. You're in a bit of an "Audi-void" so to go to an Audi dealer you're looking at Kingston, Ottawa, or Montreal. If it was my choice, I'd try the Cornwall VW dealer if that's closer than any options in NY.

Also, as Boxing Day fell on a Saturday this year they'll most likely be closed today. Boxing Day is a national holiday on the 26th (day after Christmas Day).

On the good news side, your US$ will go at least 30% further in Canada since our CAD$ has tanked with the drop in oil prices among other things.

Called a bunch of places this morning and only two open were mark motors and advanced autowerks near ottawa. Since they're a mile or so apart I drove up that way, hoping one of them can take a look at it today

Fair enough, i've heard good things about both of those places actually. And yeah man that was kind of my thinking as well when i sold my B5 S4, i had to think twice about bringing it on longer trips so decided to get a newer audi. i Really miss my nogaro blue though :(

I want to make sure good work is recognized. Ended up going to Advanced Autowerks- they got the job done under my time constraints (needed to travel back to states on New Year's Eve) for a fair price. Highly recommend
