    No electric to the engine

    Hi ,
    I have a 2005 a4 3.2L Quattro with 105k.

I pulled into a gas station to fill up and I turned the car off. When I went to start it it did not start.

All the electrical is working. There seems to be no electric going to the engine. There is no clicking, cranking or turning. Complete silence.

    Any Ideas?

That would be my guess. Would be nice to do a test and see if you get 12 volts at the starter.

What did this turn out to be?

My first guess would be the starter and then possibly the key switch.

Maybe try wiggling the key when trying to start it. That can engage a worn contact.

Also, the neutral safety switch may be slightly out of alignment. On an automatic try starting in Neutral instead of park. On a manual fiddle with the clutch pedal and brake and be sure the shifter is not in gear.

Getting out further to the edge cases it's possible there's a faulty power relay but I would expect it to crank.
