    RS7--- how's this deal?

    Nagaro blue
    2016 ... 2500 miles
    B&O, CF package
    alcantara headliner
    131 MSRP

Saying they can do 121... doesn't seem like an absolute steal, but curious what this car is really worth since it's new-used.

It's a bit high but I wouldn't say it's a bad price. If you can negotiate it down to $115 or so and decide to take it, make sure that you don't give too good review and try not to mention about what you don't like in S6 or else you will hurt someone's feeling so bad.

    Ha!
My guy says he's in it for 121 so not sure how much they want to work with me... I could make some up on my S6 trade in... the guy trading it in is on his fourth RS7 this year somehow. Just saw a picture of a red one he got. Wonder if he's on here?

So let's say the standard deal on a new RS7 is $3-4k off MSRP including incentives. That means the 2500 miles is shaving off an additional $6-7k.

Let's also assume a new vehicle depreciates 5-10% the moment the buyer drives it off the lot. That puts this RS7 with even 200 miles on it as worth about $119k-125k. Given that is has been driven in excess of a couple thousand miles, I'd say it's probably depreciated closer to 12-15%. That would put it between $111k and 115k. Then you add in the exclusive color, which theoretically drops the value another $2-3k.

So, when you factor all this in, I'll bet they bought this back for around $105k-108k, maybe 110k tops.

I think you could probably get them down into the low-mid teens.

As a point of reference, I've talked to some dealers who are willing to discount some of their new '15 RS7's in the 10-15% range.

Are you sure it is Nogaro and not Sepang?

Like you said, doesn't seem like you're stealing it at that number - Nogaro would make a big difference since it would be a special order color.

Yeah, sorry about that. The new car smell usually goes away after 2000 or so miles, so I had to get another one. LOL just kidding!!!

4 RS7's in a year? Wow, I can't even wrap myself around the money he has sunk in to get the car he absolutely likes and what options/colors he could differentiate in those 4 cars.

Curious as to why you think that?

Unless you are looking for Nogaro blue, this is basically a $127-128k MSRP car and you're paying 94.5% of MSRP on a preowned vehicle?

Here's a pic... he has some black ADV1s on it right now, but I kind of like these OEM wheels really.

Interesting. How much do you really want the RS7? Is it worth 121k to you? I would go in at around 118k and see if they budge.

I did a brief search for 2016s for sale and right around 121 seems to the number. For the car in this scenario, its 121 with a 3900 color option.

You're right that if you don't care for Nogaro (I do), then it's not as big of boost in value.

Not sure. I want the baddest Audi I can afford so that rules out an R8 for at least 4 years until my business loans are done.

I do think this looks dope as hell though... kind of been getting tired of the black. He's going to bring it by for a test drive and that will help me have a stronger opinion one way or the other. Am I missing much with my S6? I'll find out, never drove an RS7 before.

I'll be honest, I love blue and that is not my favorite blue, but this car looks gorgeous in any color.

It all boils down to if this is THE color you want.

If you're looking for a Nogaro blue RS7, and the other optioning is up to par, then your options are basically custom ordering or finding one of the extremely FEW cars that exists on the market already. If you don't want to spec one out yourself, you should negotiate them down as far as you feel they will go and buy the car. You have basically no other leverage in that situation unless you are willing to gamble that someone else isn't going to want that color.

If it were me and I really wanted that color, I certainly wouldn't let the dealer know that and I'd consistently express concern over the color and the potential resale hit and play it against them. Even though it is still blue, and not orange or pink or something, it is still not a standard color and therefore it should devalue the car to all buyers except those that are actually seeking out a Nogaro blue RS7.

Very good points and I do think I love this color but need to see it in person.
Resale value is something that worries me a bit though even though my cars always go back to the same guy and he treats me pretty fairly. We'll see what he can work out with my S6... I'm not in the best shape there since I had to get out of my wife's shitty Acura lease and rolled the hit into this loan.

He says he can show me the bill of sale and all that. They gave the guy $120k and have some $950 pack to do to sell it (whatever that is).

It's sort of like the exclusive dynamic edition cars or even just those with exclusive edition interiors. Those are big money options that a very small portion of RS7 buyers are looking for. I've seen several of these, both new and used on the market, and the dealers are trying to push the MSRP $140k RS7 angle. Honestly, when they take these cars in trade they pay little or nothing for the exclusive options, as the second buyer most likely isn't looking for that option.

I've negotiated on a few of these and I basically cut that whole portion of the value of the car out of the equation. A $140k exclusive edition car I consider as a $128k car or so. You can get 2015 exclusive edition models with low miles for $105-110k, and 2014's for $90-95k. I was briefly looking at a 2015 new exclusive edition and I think if I really wanted the car I could have gotten it for about $123k or so (down from $142k).

I think he's full of shit if he says he's into it for $120k. I'd be shocked if he's into it for more than $110k. And IF he did pay $120k for it, he screwed the guy 12 other ways to make up for what he will lose on this car.

Exactly. The trade in game is just part of negotiating the new car's price. His bill of sale doesn't hold the weight he's implying it does.

If they gave him 120k on this car then they sold him the new RS7 at 150k...thats absurd. i don't think they gave him more than 110k.

Let me know what you think of the RS7 after driving it. I'd also like to know how much they gave for your car as i'm in the same boat you are with the S6/RS7.

I am not the OP, but just test drove an S7 and an RS7. Only got to go for a few miles, and I think it's pretty difficult to really separate them in that short of a time, other than yes, the RS7 is louder, meaner, and faster...but man, the S7 was pretty crazy fast too. The RS7 seemed to be more at home when I really got on it, but I dunno about $30k more at home.

What fun, fun cars though. Now my 3.0 A6 does not seem nearly as fun :(

It took some extra time to swap out owner's ALP system so apparently the dealer gets the car tomorrow. Not sure if that means he's going to bring it by to me tomorrow, but should be soon. He's really trying to get something done before Jan 3rd, I guess that's his fourth quarter cutoff for sales. I'm playing it 'whatever' and not really rushing anything.

Honestly I look at my car in the garage and still absolutely love it. RS7 is badass though, we all know that.

You're going to love it, don't get me wrong, but not sure you'll love it $30-40k worth :)

Honestly, if this Oolong Gray S7 I test drove would have had the sport seats instead of the comfort seats, it might be in my driveway right now.

If I like it 20k more that will probably be enough

My whole life is filled with cost/benefit analysis and I try to throw that out the window when it comes to hobbies. Why work this hard if I can't be impractical sometimes?? 🏼

    OK, what's my car worth?
    92 MSRP
B/O, red stitch in the CF, red arras seats, everything except night vision.
    5500 miles

Says he could probably sell it for 79k, 3k for CPO and detail/etc and he's trying to give me like 72-73k... not sure that's going to fly with me, but maybe I just think my car is worth more than it is.

Says he could probably sell it for 79k, 3k for CPO and detail/etc and he's trying to give me like 72-73k... not sure that's going to fly with me, but maybe I just think my car is worth more than it is.
He's not too far off. I'd tell him you need to get $75k.

You need to negotiate each piece of this deal independently. He may say "Ok, I'll give you $75k but then he won't move off of $120k on his car.

Ultimately, I think you should shoot for $75k on yours and $114-115k on his.

Bullshit he's in $120k on that car. You need to land right around $117k and you'll be good.

Pretty sure I can get 75k on mine, but he's not budging on the fact he's into it for 120+1 on the trade in. I told him essentially that I don't buy it -- what makes that guy so special that I can't get the same sort of deal... said he has a Q7 and R8 also on order and just picked up this new RS7. I've bought 8-9 cars from this same guy and he's always done me right and my BS meter is pretty strong (since I'm a BS'er).
Just not sure I can wrap my head around this all the way... I'd be taking an L as is for sure.

The problem with that logic is he is trying to transfer consideration he's giving to the guy selling the RS7 to you, when he is the one who needs to absorb it.

Ask him, ok, so he's got a Q7 and an R8 on order, how much money did I see from those purchases? The dealer and the dealership is making money off this guy, not you. What they pay him for his car because he is some megacustomer is of no consequence to you. The car is worth market value, regardless of what he has into it.

If he wants to work off that logic, tell him you need to get whatever you are into your S7, plus what you rolled into this loan from your wife's Acura lease for your car.

That's pretty much where we're at. He's like "well I need to spend 3k to CPO your car"... NO, ***I*** apparently need to spend 3k to CPO my car if that's part of your consideration in what you can offer me.
I might just let it sit for awhile and see where he's at in a couple weeks.

I noticed they have it posted on autotrader. My guess is he got wind of the car coming in, and as soon as any of these guys get wind of a car like that, they start reaching out to all their best customers trying to pick some low-hanging fruit.

Letting it sit is the right thing to do.

OK, just test drove the car... in fact, I have possession of it through January 5th. It's pouring rain so I talked my guy into taking my car to work and leaving me the RS7 so I can get a proper feel (and increase his chances of selling me the car--he agreed).

There's really no contest. RS7 is so tight, much more refined... a true beast. Stays firm under heavy gas where my S6 loses it a bit. This is a completely different animal and I'm not 100% sure, but it actually feels like it has more power than my APR tuned S6 even though I thought I had more HP than a stock RS7. Can't imagine this tuned although there's no way I'll be able to avoid tuning it if I go through with the deal. :D

That's my same impressions from test driving the S7 and the RS7...the S7 was kind of pulling off while the RS7 stayed planted to the ground.
