If you had $5,000 budget for performance parts and labor what would you do?

Stage 2 $2k, exhaust about 1800 with labor, Intake $250. With tax that's about it you may be able to squeeze a alukru that's about 350/400 if I'm not mistaken .. If you have extra I would go tint , LED interior goodies

Lowering springs first before Alu Kreiz, tint and interior enhancements. If you still have extra after the springs, sway bars next before the drivetrain subframe brace (Alu Kreiz).

If I had a 13' S4 and $5,000, I would purchase a used high mileage Prius and pay a driver to drive around the track, while I lap the Prius a hundred times.

    Agree with above

    Tune/pulley

    Intake of your choice
    Alu Kreutz
Springs in place of AK if you want just the looks instead of an actual performance gain

Looks like you got the MT - nice! I'd go w/ a tint, small 10" sub, tune and if you hate the numbness of the steering and how it mysteriously drifts on you perhaps the 034 x-brace.

Lol man, aftermarket S4 is limited at best. You can do pretty much everything to it with $5K.

Religiously stalk the classifieds and pick stuff up as it gets posted for sale at a fraction of new cost. I did my B8.5 that way and did everything; sways, AK, links, springs, intake, SSK, exhaust, tint, Tune (on sale) and wheels (paid for tires).

    Based on my experience,

Springs, Alu, Sways with endlinks, Brake pad swap, either aka's or Wearevers. Short Shifter, makes driving experience very enjoyable. Stage 2 tune. Exhaust is nice, but not necessary, I have the AWE, sound is intoxicating, but really just an expensive noise maker.... Intake is also nice, but again not necessary, again, another noise maker... supercharger whine. Just my thoughts.

Intake is necessary, if you don't believe me just swap the stock one back in and feel how gutless the car is. The stock intake tube is the main problem, too much sound deadening that disrupts flow

Performance? IMHO: Intake + Stage 2 tune (DSG, if applicable) + CPS /thread lol.

I plan to dial in the chassis first, and then work on more power. Power is the easy part, but I'd like the car more nimble. I don't go around trying to roll race people or anything like that lol

    PSS10's
    Rear Sway Bar
    Perhaps front sway/lower brace

Then either exhaust for some noise, and then a tune, or a tune followed by an exhaust.

People rag on the stock intake, but I was surprised to see that when a vendor posted the build list for a car that broke into the 10 second range, they specifically called out the stock intake with a high flow air filter. I imagine that if they thought the intake needed to be changed, they would have. This makes me think a full intake is just another expensive noise-maker just like an exhaust and the power gains available on the intake side can be achieved with a simple air filter swap.

note true. it's been tested on here the stock air box being restrictive. shown by improvements in air flow by changing to an AFE filter, again with cutting a hole in the air box, and again going to the APR stage 2 tube and stock modded box. only thing missing was the full aftermarket intake from the mix which is on his list.

Whatever you do keep $3000 on the side for a clutch. So get it tuned with stage 2 and pulley for $2000 and the rest keep it for when your clutch will go in 5000 miles

yeah I honestly agree with you but we will be lambasted. Roc Euro's site show 10hp crank w/o a tune and from I see on apr's site the carbonio could net 12 to 15 awhp and about 8 awtq w/ stage 2 tune according to there dyno on a stage 2 vehicle .. so it's a little bit more horsepower than exhaust but for less than half the price so it makes it totally worth it plus the glorious sound. I choose to view it more as a sound mod if I was buying one but it does do more than an exhaust for this platform.

LOL at the ones stating the intake is a sound modification. Pop your hood and look at the damn thing. I've never seen a more restricted intake in my life. The good aftermarket intakes like the Roc-Euro and a few others will add 10-12 horses and let that blower whine out. 10-12 is a lot of power added for an intake swap, and it's relatively cheap power.

I'd say this depends on what you want to do with your car.

    Scenario 1
Is it going to be a weekend track toy?

    1. Big Brake Kit $2500
    2. TSW Bathurst and a great set of tires - $2000
    3. Set of F and R Antiswaybars - $500
    4. Performance Alignment - $100

    Scenario2
Is it going to be a daily driver that sees very occasional track use or some spirited runs?

    1. Stage 2 tune and pulley ($2000 or stage 2 CW for $500 since you are manual transmission)
    2. DSG Tune if you go with GIAC. For Revo and APR I would wait until all issues are resolved. - $800
    3. F and R Antisways - $500
    4. Performance Alignment - $100
    5. Intake $280
    6. Good Tires $1000
    7. Upgraded pads (ST Steet Peformance) and some Motul or Castrol fluid - $200

    Scenario 3:
Is it going to be a show car or for meets?

    1. some bling bling suspension , airbags, coilovers, etc
    2. some bling bling wheels that are all big and have stretched tires
    3. an alignment that makes the camber so negative it is unsafe to drive in the rain but your incorrect offset on the rims will no longer rub
    4. Shiny things under the hood or anything carbon fiber (intakes, custom engine covers, etc etc)
    5. Get your interior trim wrapped in something that is flashy. Paint things like the S4 logo on the seats. Add color and/or texture. Put extra gauges in strategic locations
    6. Get a cool sound system that has lots of power and looks good too.

Alright, im going to stop there on the show car one. I'm not really very good at that stuff. Others can talk more about that. But the first two scenarios are pretty well thought out.

10 to 12 horsepower huh - whoa. like i said compared to an exhaust, price wise, it's totally worth it but I still view it as a glorious sound mod and if tuned you may get 10 hp.. you pretty much need to be tuned to see it at the wheels .. roc euro shows untuned a 10hp crank gain .. apr 10to 12 hp wheel if tuned so untuned = sound , tuned = sound plus a 10hp to the wheels making it worth it.

    1. some bling bling suspension , airbags, coilovers, etc
    2. some bling bling wheels that are all big and have stretched tires
    3. an alignment that makes the camber so negative it is unsafe to drive in the rain but your incorrect offset on the rims will no longer rub
