Looks like it would in this pic also.

I see a ton of cars that the map hits the bottom of the hood for one reason or another.
That looks to be even higher than the map, and off to the side where the hood is rolling down.

As someone with one I have never had any problems... Idk what you did wrong but if you can't install a dipstick then this probably isn't the car for you hahahaha

I hope ECS responds here, and I hope they do something to make it right. I've been a customer for years and they have always been quick to fix any issues. Never had an issue like this though....

What do you expect them to do??

The post right above you is of someone else that has one and has no issues with it.

You think they just made this and never measured or tested it.

I'd ask op if his car was ever in an accident that might have misaligned his hood before I expect ecs to do anything.

So you would drive around in a dented/scratched s4 and wouldn't fix it but would go buy a k04s??

Sorry man, it was early when I saw this and didn't notice the post above mine.

I don't expect anything, but it would be nice to see this addressed. It's odd that this would happen, and I doubt that the OP can't install a dipstick.

I could see this happening if the tube wasn't seated completely, and someone didn't bother to secure it with the original mounting bolt.

No, he's saying that if it doesn't make his car go faster(ie. dipstick), he wouldn't bother. He said nothing about a dent/scratch

Of course my car has dents and scratches, its 16 years old, i primarily spend my money on pre emptive maintenance and upgrade when something fails than have a car with a $6000 paint job that breaks down all the time and some jealous dork in a $500 civic is going to open his door into.

Of course if i had a huge dent i would get it repaired, but door dings and the odd paint blemish ill live with.

Yup. Hell when that old lady side swiped me back in August I had a clouded moment that I actually considered keeping the cash. Then I punched myself in the dick for even considering it.

Something's gotta be up with this particular car. Dipstick tube not inserted all the way or something. I mean, it's a dipstick. I'm sure they've closed hoods with these before selling them lol

That sucks though. I had a similar issue where I had the threads of my TBB t bolt clamp pointing up. I didn't realize it was so tight in there until I saw the scratches under my hood; luckily no dent though

OK, I say ban the op for hit and run and dropping bs in here with nothing to back it up

Maybe give marlin a timeout also for telling us about pics, but being too lazy to post them

Judging by the pic I posted earlier, it looks like that thing is going to hit. Might just be the angle, but that thing looks tall.
Next time you have your hood open, look at the liner and see what looks like it is touching. Stuff is tight in there.
Wouldnt surprise me if the car in the pic already has marks on the liner from the tail of the clamp on the left sticking up.

I guess a few things could affect this differently from car to car.
Snub mount, motor/trans mounts, and how the lock carrier and hood are aligned could change things a bit.

    Unfortunately ECS website says,

"*This dipstick should not be used in conjunction with any performance engine mount due to clearance issues with the hood of the vehicle. Performance engine mounts can raise the sitting height of the engine and may not allow for proper hood clearance of the dipstick handle."

I don't know if the OP has motor mounts. But, it is probably likely. You can fix the damage probably pretty cheaply with some PDR. I had a quarter size door ding which was repaired for $150ish.

It's a good thing silver hoods are cheap and all over the place. Sucks but an easy $150 fix.

Fine here's your damn picture. It did occur because of aftermarket mounts though. Sterns specifically.

Lol, thx for the info man

Somebody mucked up if engine mounts caused that.

I would think aftermarket mounts are setup to mimic the dimensions of the oem pieces.
I have never seen aftermarket mounts put the oem dip stick through the hood.

This would lead me to believe the ecs part was not designed keeping the oem dimensions in mind.
I would guess we will get a v2 announcement, just wonder if it will be before or after the current stock has been moved.

Jeez, thank god I saw this post before putting mine in!

Interesting point on aftermarket mounts and explains why I am having clearance issues with MAP sensor (Sterns here)... This almost warrants its own thread to find out which aftermarket mount options are not putting the engine higher.

If mounts made a huge difference then the snub mount cage would not fit or need a lot of adjustment. It could be the mock up of this dip stick was done in a car with soft mounts though.

I have one and I've never had a problem with the hood closing. Measure it from the tip to the end, maybe it's not the right one and got packaged wrong? I'll measure mine.

What tbb? This is what I think usually puts the map into the hood.
