Yes, the silicone couplers I sourced were to rigid. Every time I popped the hood the plastic neck that feeds into the turbos ( using the couplers ) was always separated from the air box. I would put it back and it would seem ok but with the movement of the engine I think it's to much and needs the accordion style hoses. Ever since I put them on there was no more issues. Plenty of flex.

So today I installed my brand new, RS7 intake into my 2016 C7.5 S6.

I asked the company I ordered it from if the accordion styled couplers stepped down enough to fit the intake pipe of the turbo and they ensured me they would.

    Well...they didn't.

So as an alternative I tried attaching the "quick access" cover to the air-box (the round part that has splits the intake air into 2 pieces to the turbos) and guess what...it's an exact fit.

So now I could use the factory accordion couplers.

I figured it steps down anyway so what is the big difference when this happens before the air enters the turbos.

I am going to contact the company who I ordered all the parts from and get a refund for the stepped down couplers that came with the intake.

Does anyone see a problem with this set up?

    Thank you.

Yes. Isn't the RS7 air filter a different size than the S6/7? I thought the big end was bigger so does the cover actually fit snug on the filter? If not I think it might pull in unfiltered air. Just a thought anyway.

I was going to do that, but wanted to use the bigger rs7 filter so just tightened up the rs7 couplers instead. No air leaks/vacuum.

Yes. That's exactly what I did. It screws into the RS7 box perfectly.

I was going to try this but they looked a bit too big and I thought they would fold over leaving an air gap from the extra rubber that had to be compressed against the metal pipe.

As someone mentioned above, Revo has several kits specific to applications.

For RS6/7 owners or S6/7 owners who have upgraded to the RS6/7 airbox already - Intake Upgrade | Revo 4.0TFSI

For S6/7 owners who want the RS6/7 airbox and a high flow filter plus silicone connectors that work with the S6/7 intake pipes -
    Intake Package | Revo 4.0TFSI

The RS6/7 intake bellows don't fit properly with the S6/7 intake pipes as they are designed for the larger RS6/7 intake pipes. The Revo solution works well for adapting the RS6/7 airbox or adding it to any S6/7.

    Cheers,

Is there sound deadening material in the rs intake box that can be removed for slight louder turbo and blow off sound?

Have roc euro now and it almost a bit too noisy sometimes, and would prefer the rs box if there are still reasonable power gains and sound inbetween the stock s6 and roc euro

Also get a super funky fluttering and stud define noise with the roc euro at lower rpm's and open throttle. Don't care for that at all

No material inside other than the sleeve on the filter. I think the only option for more sound would be modifying the box itself e.g. cutting the top. Let me know if you want to trade your roc euro :)

Thank you for mentioning it. I did check it today and you are right...the larger opening for the filter is bigger. I replaced the RS7 filter for the S6 filter...they are physically just about the same size and appears to be made of the same material and technology. Just with slightly different attachment dimensions. So now I have a RS7 box with a S6 filter, S6 top and S6 accordion style couplers.

So in the end...I probably have not gained much HP...I have the RS7 look and maybe a little better auditory music from the engine.

I am considering modifying the RS7 accordion couplers to fit the intake pipes to the turbo. I am also trying to locate another style that would taper to the correct size.

I ended up in this situation because I got bad info from a vendor. If I had to do it all over again I would have purchased the Revo kit Alex advertised on this thread.

Actually, there is a bit of grey foam against the inside outboard wall of the box that could only be for sound absorbtion. I left mine in on my 3.0T and the supercharger whine is much more prevalent,,, it's perfect actually. I wouldn't want more sound as it would start to annoy me, but this airbox absolutely turns the intake volume up.

Can you post how you adapted the accordion style hoses to fit? I was installing my rs7 intake yesterday and noticed the same thing, so I ended up using the S6 neck+hoses and the rs7 airbox, but I'd like to actually use the rs7 pipes.

Ok my revo one did that, just out a screw in the hole that's pre drilled that connects the intake hoses to the air box then it won't fall off

Looks great! So in addition the the RS6 turbo inlets and airbox, do you plan on also adding RS6 turbos?

I just switched from my Roc-Euro intake to the RS7 airbox with Revo filter in anticipation of upgrading to RS7 turbos. I enjoyed the sound of the Roc Euro, and I have no evidence of any real performance difference, but from at least a theoretical standpoint, I wonder if the heat of the overall engine bay air that is fed into the Roc Euro will cause higher IATs and less dense air to be fed into the turbos than those intakes that isolate air from the snorkel (Closed boxes rather than open-air intakes). Would love to see any objective comparison numbers of anyone has any.

So by adding the larger RS7 turbo inlet pipes does any body have any concrete info if they indeed make any additional power or not really. I want to get the most out of my stock turbos as I am not going to go stage 3 anytime soon. I just don’t feel that it is worth it until the price comes down hopefully in the near future.

Audiusaparts had them both at a much cheaper price then anyone else. That’s were I am going to order mine from. I have ordered a lot of parts from them and even items coming from over seas only take about two weeks or less. They are great to deal with.

Audiusaparts had been great to work with. Got my inlet pipes, turbos, and all gaskets and hardware exactly 10 days after ordering. Your timeline may vary, as they are located in Oregon, but with low prices, no sales tax, and free shipping for orders over $45, hard to beat.

Is anyone using that Revo kit and can confirm it doesn't have the issues that silicone hose issues that eurodaddy had originally? Also has anyone found another option that works well?

I'm picking up a secondhand RS7 intake from off the classifieds here and the seller is including a K&N RS7 filter, so I don't really need the foam filter included in the Revo kit. Unfortunately it looks like the only way to get their custom silicone hose is part of their $200 kit with the filter.
