    Hi fellow Audi owners :)

I have had some problems with my new bought Audi A4 Avant 1.8T 97 ..

When i turn off the climate control and just give full power on the fan, it works fine. Alot of air comes trough the vents..

But when i turn on the climate control, and go to full heat, its only a VERY VERY small amount of air that comes out... AND the air that comes out, it no where near hot.. and now when its around -5, its very cold to drive..

I just changed my thermostat and it diten really make any diffrence.. also did a core flush and and a bleeding..

So my question is, how does the air vents and stuff work ? i have a feeling that something is blocking the air coming trough the heater core, or something..
Also i got an aftermarket climate control, but im going to change it to the org one.

Pray that it's not your heater core.
It's a bitch and a half to change.

hahahha its so good hearing from people that have done it, once you've swapped one you hate the thought of it forever

I did flush my core, and i dont that is the problem..
When i turn on the heat, its very little air pressure that comes out ..

Also been told its a bit** to change, so im trying not to do it ;p

But i was just wondering how the hole system works with the air from the fan trough the heater core and trough the vents.. im just thinking that one of the opening and closing plates are broken or so??

When u say very little air came out from the vents have you checked whether it actually being diverted to the footwell coz for my car it does that way when set to hot and it does seem to flow little air through the dash vents. You also said that u did the heater core flush so it seems to be that you might have a clogged blower.

I think that maby my aftermarket climate control is messing with something .. because it dosent seems like it works, neither at the footwell.

    a clogged blower?

After reading through your initial post, I don't think the blower is the problem. You might have problem in the operations of the flaps. I would suggest you to remove the center console and radio cage, connect the ac control back again and see whether the big flaps operate correctly or not.

Edit: I don't think you can see it coz they are covered by the ducting unless you remove the complete dash. You could only observe the motor linkage movement.

definitely replace that dodgy aftermarket control unit first, then see if the problems persist
