    Exclamation Non Bose tweeters?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Has anybody else noticed that the non bose tweeters are really bad in terms of sound quality?

Depends on the song but basically, if you turn it up any reasonable amount (60-70% of max) all the tweeters start scratching/buzzing if you know what I mean....I thought it was only 1 that was defective that I could replace with OEM non bose again but after inspecting further I realized ALL 4 tweeters make the same noise on some types on songs. Oddly enough, I find even the non bose lower speakers to be good quality and no buzzing/scratching from them at all during those same songs.

As a general question, is it possible to replace all 8 speakers in our doors with non OEM? For example, 4 x Alpine lower speakers and 4 x some other name brand tweeters? Not sure what else I can do here, without changing out my headunit or wiring harness

Are you playing mp3s? What quality. I found that lower quality mp3s and similar are terrible sounding. Try a full bit cd or dvd and see if they still do it.

If it makes you feel any better, my Bose tweeters suck too. No distortion - but no treble either. I miss the factory radio from my B5. Much better highs. Wish I knew of a good replacement for those tiny little tweeters in the door.

This Polk system fits perfectly both in the doors and the tweeters.

Nice Okedokey. Does it fit behind the OEM grilles? Have you heard it?

I'm non bose. Teamed up with the S100 head unit and sounds amazing. I can't complain. And of course with kotix's skin, you get a really good built in EQ. I wanted to change mine, but so far so good.

Yes they clip straight in. Take out old tweeters and fitting and just clip them in. With the speakers, I did the cut away the old speaker and install using OE mounting. Yes I have heard them as I have them in my car right now. ;)

Non-bose and yes, massive difference. Once you look at the OE woofers you'll see why ;) Also the crossovers help!

Did you have to do any vagcom coding to get them to work? Wire harness splicing? Fit in OEM mounting holes? Fit behind tweeter and lower grill covers?

Think I just found the non OEM (but better sound quality) replacement sent I was looking for

Nothing of the above. I just cut into the existing wire harness above the connector into the stock mount. I cut the speaker cone out and mounted the new speaker in that allowing me to wire it up and then reconnect the stock connector. I then ran the speaker wires to the crossover and then through the door to the head unit. The tweeter just clicked in.

Would this DIY apply with the polk speakers?

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...teup-%28BWW%29

Would one order two pairs/sets of the polk DB6501's in order to do the front and back speakers? I'm a total audio noob, so forgive me.
