    Parking Sensors Auto-on?

I think the answer is no, that this can't be done, but I thought I'd check here. In other cars, like our Odyssey, the distance sensors turn on automatically at slow speeds, but in my car, I have to manually press the button or shift into reverse to enable them. I like the idea of them coming on automatically in case there something I just don't see that's there, especially in a parking lot. It seems there ought to be some VAGCOM setting for this, but maybe there isn't. Thanks!

I am also interested in having them turn on automatically.

It's weird that Audi doesn't have this standard in their cars. Most other car brands I know automatically turn on the sensors under a certain speed. It really comes in handy sometimes rather than having to remember and manually do it everytime I park

My wife's BMW automatically turns on, but only when she's actually about to hit something. The screen shows up and it beeps at curbs, cars in parking spots, the garage door frame, etc., but doesn't when you slow and stop at a traffic light, even if there's another car in front of you. Not really sure how it works.

Not an option that I've seen yet. It surprised me that my 2016 S6 doesn't do it, as I know some VW's do it, including my daughter's Crosspolo.

If so one can assume if might be possible to tweak it in vcds?

Really? I'm pretty certain my A6 does exactly what you describe above.

In Mercedes and Volvo it activates at a certain speed, like 3 mph

I'm guessing it is some combination of speed and whether you use reverse or something.

If you flip to reverse, it definitely stays on until a certain speed, but it seems you could very easily inch along and rear end someone stopped without ACC. In most cars I've driven with sensors, it would beep when you're really close to hit it

This annoys me too as I've had various cars with parking sensors and they all start beeping when you get close to something without the need to turn the feature on. I've had a few close calls when parking in my garage because I'm used to having the beeps automatically come only to realize that the sensors are not on and I'm about to hit something in the garage. I guess it it will have to be something I get used to like turning off the Start-Stop and changing the DIS display to the radio/map screen every time I start the car.

Yes it is definitely lacking the beuty of the bmw button allocation, where you can assign anything to the "radio" buttons.
If you want to see the DAB info page in day to Tay driving, I believe it is around 6-7 twist and press to get there.

You can disable start/stop if you really want, but I don't see a way to make them turn on automatically. Part of the beauty of having parking sensors is that they sense things you don't. While certainly not foolproof, they can save a little kid who darts out in front of you if you're in a dark parking garage, etc. That only works when they're on however!

So, no one has an idea about engaging them automatically through VCDS, then, right? Are there regions where these are required at certain speeds for new cars and have them enabled as such? Thanks!
