    Question about vibration

Hey guys, first off Merry Christmas to all the forum members! I was wondering if anyone could help me pin point a vibration issue I have having. It is nothing terrible but definitely annoying.

The car starts vibrating over 35mph and does not get worse or better with increased speed. Accelerating, decelerating and coasting do not change it. There is no steering wheel shake. It is like a light droned out thumpy vibration if that makes any sense.

I know it is not my tires/rims as I have just replaced them with brand new ones and balanced them without a change.

I had my car in the shop recently and they said I had a torn boot on my passenger side axle. The axle does not click or make any noise, could this be the cause of the vibration? I am hoping it is the axle rather than the driveshaft. Thanks guys.

When you changed your wheels did you also change centering rings?

I had an annoying vibration for a long time. It stayed with me through wheel and tire changes but I kept reusing the same centering rings. They were the right size and everything but I guess just not round anymore because eventually I decided to try new ones and haven't had an issue since.

The axle would be a good starting point since that needs sorted anyways but I kinda doubt that that is the problem

I believe that the VMR 710 wheels I have do not need/have centering rings. I ordered an Empi axle, I know there are lots of bad reviews about these but I do not have any plans on tracking or driving hard with this car. Thats what the 350Z is for

    *brakes
    *tie rods/suspension links
    *alignment
    *drive shaft support bearing
*tires/rims (although you've ruled them out)
    *axle shaft issue

could be one of the above. as long as your wheels are installed properly and balanced, shouldnt be that. there are many things it COULD be, but sorting through them can't be done online. I usually diagnose from easiest and most accessible to hardest and least accessible. give the suspension bushings a good look over.

I have not checked the driveshaft support, my rear pads are trashed and need to be replaced but could that causing a constant vibration that is not any worse when braking?

    most likely not.

do you feel it more in the steering wheel or in the chassis?

Had an odd vibration like that and it ended up being my axle as well. Boot was torn.

Definitely more in the chassis or wheels, no steering wheel vibration. My axle should be arriving soon so thats the first thing ill try.

In regards to the wheels at least:
Our wheels are machined to match your hub bore but also utilize factory ball seat lug bolts. Are you still running factory bolts?
Also, are you running spacers? Some brands of spacers have been known to not work well with our wheels.
Is the vibration more "up and down" or "side to side"?
Hopefully I can help trouble shoot this! Or at the very least rule out some stuff!
