    S6 transmission fluid, reuse?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Transmission rebuilt a year ago, driven under 3k miles.
Replace seal for harness (2 o rings), drained all fluid and changed filter and gasket.

Who would re use this fluid, and who would re use the filter?

What labor cost would someone expect to pay for the actual replacement of those seals?
I paid 184 for labor and someone previous is trying to tell me I was overcharged...
And then told me to re use fluid and filter on a year old rebuild...
Fluid was put in a month ago, with 3k miles.

It wouldn't bother me to reuse it. I mean it's basically new and saves you $75+ I'd be tempted to filter it through something though just in case. I've done it with engine oil when I had to deal with the oil temp gauge.
It feels weird reusing fluid...but you know...it's still NEW! It's like eating something you just dropped on the floor...3 second rule / 3k mile rule?

Sounds like you got a deal on labor. As far as fluid goes.. It's your gamble.

I agree on replacing the filter and fluid as its a rebuilt (stated by some third party) with no reciepts
I am using the majority rule to dictate that it is an unforseen expense which should have been on the builder/installer.

I would also re-use the fluid in this case. BTW, how did your new aux fan installation go?

Went smoothly! New unit was slightly wider (or deeper I guess it's called) so had to take 2 minutes to wiggle it in.
I spent more time wiring it in too look proper and zip tie it as well. Thank you.
The old bearing was horrible. I should made a video when it was facing the ground. The induced friction really took some effort to spin against it!

Glad it went well. I'd be interested to know if the fans are now variable speed since both are functioning.
