    Trunk question

Anyone know if it is possible to set the trunk so that when using the trunk release button either on the fob or in the car, the trunk will just pop open just a tiny bit and require manual intervention to lift it fully open or manual intervention to lift it so the hydraulic shocks lifts it all the way open? Right now, my trunk flings all the way open and the concern here is accidental pressing of buttons on keyfob opening the trunk somewhere without me knowing it. My previous car was a MKIV Jetta which would just pop the trunk slightly, so even if you were looking at the car, it was hard to tell if the trunk was even popped but if you went and lifted it up after popping the trunk, you were good to go. Nice and stealth.

I saw this on the Audi website and I think I might have read this in the owners manual too, but it doesn't work for me:

Press the close button in the open rear lid. The trunk lid moves to the closed position by itself and soft close locks it automatically. To set the height of the trunk, bring the rear lid manually or automatically to the desired opening position and leave it in this position. Press the rear lid button for at least four seconds in order to save the desired opening position. The position can only be saved starting at a certain level.

I never knew the trunk lid closes itself if you push on the black rubber button on the bottom of the trunk lid. I have never thought of trying that.....

I don't think USA got the option for closing the trunk with a button on A4/S4's trunk. Canada might...

It doesn't. That's only for the assisted hydraulic lift trunks. Ours has the hydraulics, but only to force open the trunk. Higher-end models have a button that closes it automatically.

Maybe the B9 S4 will have this luxury feature :)

Yes, I know this is an ancient thread...

But to answer question #1, there are two positions for the trunk opening spring. If you move the spring to the upper perch, then the trunk will just pop open an inch or so when you hit the button, and you will have to open the rest of the way manually. You can do this through the access hatches, no need to remove all the trim.

When you adjust that spring, the trunk lid won't accidentally spring open, giving the girls a chance to get away
