Better value: demod and trade in, or keep modded and private sale

I plan on picking up a Macan sometime next spring/summer, and I'm trying to figure out what I should do with my 2010 S4. If I traded it in, it'd probably be to carmax as they beat Audi by 2.5k on my previous A6.

    2010 Ibis 6MT
    55k miles w CPO
18in stockers w Happa R2s (currently on but 70 degrees yesterday. Give me snow!)
19in VMR V710 in Gunmetal with PSSs
Bilstein PSS10s, owed for 16 months, probably 12k miles
    Roc-Euro intake
    some other minor stuff

    Interior is impecably clean
Exterior has a couple nicks and dings.

To demod or not demod, that is the question.

Since you don't have any internal engine mods, why not just take the 19's, Bilsteins, and Roc Euro off it and sell them separately and trade the car in? There's a market for those parts on the forums. That way you avoid the hassle of private sale and get some of the differential back from trade vs. sale.

its always better to de mod if you can. your list is pretty much the coilovers, so if you have a place that can swap them out for you i would do it.

I've never sold a car to Carmax, but many dealers don't like modded cars on trade-in. like sacandagaD already said, de-mod, sell parts here, we buy at a discount and everybody wins

you dont really have anything that is crazy. you can proabbly get away with leaving the suspension. just throw the factory wheels back on and you should be good. Most dealerships wont take the time to look at something that detailed

you'll make more demodding and selling the parts seperately and trading car in PROBABLY. People wont usually pay extra for a lot of mods on a car, so you'll be giving money away... However, there is always that one person who will pay more especially since your car is CPO still

I brought my car in for appraisal recently at a Carmax because I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a B8.5.
My car is modified with coilovers, aero, intake, header, exhaust, tint, full Alpine sound system.
They appraised my car at 6k with all the stuff on.
Took most of it off, switched out my coils to springs with OEM struts, took off the lip kit, intake header and exhaust back to stock and took out the Alpine sound system. 2000 miles later, I took it back for appraisal and it appraised at $6500.

    I was pretty astonished.

IMO part out and then sell it to Carmax.

Should the cost to remove the coilovers and replace with my stock setup be the same as the original coilover install?

Prob so, as long as you have all the parts. Lemme know if you need OEM suspension. Just upgraded to PSS10s

Hell, let me know when you are doing it and I can possibly buy your PSS10s, and do the swap for you. I am in southern VA, so not that far away. Pretty easy to accomplish.

    That 'tis not the question.

The question is what is the potential extra $$$ really worth to you vs. your time and effort to return to stock, sell (and ship) the parts, sell the car yourself and deal with tire kickers/lowballers, etc.?

    That 'tis the question.
