Took a look at RS7 today but rear end not helping!

Dealer got a black pretty loaded rs7 so took the wife in to take a look. Walked in and front is facing us and it looks even more awesome like our S6 then get to a front/side view and looks proper beef cake then get to the rear and the wife says exactly what I think. Damn this is ugly. Really want a RS after having the S6 but damn that rear end just looks so stretched out and weird. It just don't look right. Is it something that will grow on you as I have seen it way more than her and I have gone from 15% liking the rear to maybe 20% but she is at 0%. Only hope is the RS6 comes here on next redesign.

It's not for everyone. Some people never liked James Bond's DB5, either.

I second that. You will never like it in the future when you don't like it now. Luckily (or not) it works just fine for me.

There's enough good about it to like for sure. It ain't an Avant but it's the only real option for a RS here. I would just hate to clean it every weekend and step back and think I prefered the S6. I was hoping it would be a grower. I'm the same with new Golfs when they come out. Unsure at first but see a few and they grow on me.

That's where I'm at with the new Q7s. Disgusted at first, looked like a Suburu. It's growing on me.
Might upgrade the old lady's ride if I can get it without that stupid chrome strip alone the side doors.

I had to take a look at new Q7's online. Wife won't touch them as she thinks they look like mini vans. She hates mini vans. But I get what you are saying. They are def strange looking at first glance. Would be hard to guess it was an Audi without the front grill and badges.

I kinda think the 7 grows on you, especially when you see it out in the open outside the showroom. There is no question, the 6 is a beautiful car and the rear end is perfect! The 6's more 3-dimensional rear lights with their outward curvature as well as the nicer s-line mesh valence on the Prestige (a6) makes it very nice to look at, compared to the 7.
I have both sitting in the driveway, as I just got an A7 while waiting to sell the A6. Like you, i was never in love with the A7 rear...but now that I have it, i'm really enjoying the new dimensions, low sloping roofline, large electric hatch (for baby stuff) and more aggressive front end. Not to mention a bit more unique. Once you dial in the proper stance on the 7, it really starts to shine.
I have no regrets so far..

Cosmeticly I couldn't tell the difference between a premium plus and a prestige. That's even with them side by side. What exactly Is different about them?

I don't think there are any such differences in the RS7.. In the A7, however, the Prestige has different front and rear bumper treatments - different rear valance, front lower vents and splitter; it's much sportier/aggressive looking than the non-Prestige variants. I def would not have had any interest in the 7, had there not been the Prestige exterior (which shares those same styling elements as an S7). Same goes for the A6.
Again, those exterior variations are diminished once you get into the S or RS models.

If only the bum of the 7 looked more like the 5. I notice in the dealer's show rooms they tend to leave the spoiler up on the 7's to help improve the look.

When I first moved to Korea and bought my first car here, I couldn't stand the rear of the 7 either. So, I bought an A6. But after a while, I started to get sick of the 6 styling because you can't go a block in Seoul without seeing an A6. The 7 design is more unique and really grew on me, and now I love my RS7.

Oh right so basically in S6 form there's no cosmetic difference between a prestige compared to a Premium plus. I always wondered why people would say the prestige looks so much better. But on A models the Prestige has cosmetic differences between the 2 versions.

For what it's worth, I too couldn't get over the rear end of a 7 hence my initial S6 purchase. But over time, seeing the 7 on the road and the pictures of all RSs with wheels and a stance, it really grew on me. So much so, I'm now the proud owner of one.

6 and 7 are two different models. The 6 is the common sedan look with a conventional trunk.

The 7 is a 4 door coupe designed to mimic sports cars. Most sports cars have a nice wide ass. The 7 has a slender ass which may not be appealing to some. We are talking cars now. I like the slender ass on my wife.

First time I saw an a7 it turned me off. The style eventually grew on me and now I love it. Most think it's odd though. I think the rs7 is a prettier version of the panamera turbo.

Literally everyone can agree that people buy Panamera because of Porsche badge and Panamera Turbo is there for people who need to get the greatest of the model.

I loved it from day one. Plus the fact that you see practically zero of them on the road is awesome. When you do see one it's like looking at some new model that just came out. It's different and to me in a good way. I do hear they are drastically redesigning the rear end for future models.

I see way more 7's than 6's though. It would be interesting to see the figures for sales.

Interesting. I wouldn't say I see "practically zero" 7's on the road, but definitely not as many as the 6's. A lot of 6's compared to 7's out here in Vegas.

I disagree with this. If you have the financial means, the Panamera turbo will drive and feel better than an RS7. Ride/handling balance, steering feel, and the transmission are the main areas of distinction. I feel like the curves of the Panamera allow it to carry the 5-door big sedan look a little better than the RS7, but it still isn't the prettiest of cars. To me, both these cars are just too big to carry the 5-door look.

Now....an RS7 coupe, on a slightly shorter wheelbase, to compete with the BMW M6.....that would be epic !!!

At first I disliked the 7. I opted for an S5 instead. Drove the S5 for the summer and stored it away and bought an A6 for the winter. My daughter (6 years old) decided she likes having her own door door so I traded the S5 for the A7 and it slowly grew on me. I love it now.
