    HELP: Diagnose This

    Around 70,000km I started noticing that when my car was fully warmed up and I shifted into drive the car would jerk forward with a bang that felt like it was under my shifter. It used to only happen rarely. Now almost every time I drive for over an hour, stop my car then shift back into drive it makes this aggressive bang that doesn't sound too healthy. Also when fully warmed up if i come to a rolling stop the same bang will happen and jerk to a stop. When accelerating from dead stop the car will jerk and boggle for the first few seconds like its struggling to get going smoothly. It seems to be an issue only when the car is warmed up. Unfortunately its a constant problem that I want fixed ASAP. The dealer tried to tell me I needed a DSG fluid flush, which I already had done and knew it wouldn't do anything to fix that. Ive heard it might be related to a mechatronic unit issue. I still have warranty for another 60,000km.

    that sounds pretty bad in that engine video you got there. think u have something more serious going on that a fluid flush might not fix....i would bring it in and have them listen to that;

    Definitely a serious issue. Take it to the shop and leave it there until it's fixed.

    That would be my thought a motor mount? I wouldn't screw around, get it in and get it figured out.

    I agree with the others, start with the motor mount and then get the tranny looked at as well.

    I've never had any myself as I have a 2014 but that sounds like classic DSG mechatronics issues. You must have a 2010 or 2011 I'm guessing. Search those threads for similar owner experiences.

    If this is true, there supposedly a DSG repair kit that costs around $500-$600 and about as much again to install that might address the issue. If not, you may need a new mechatronics unit (valve body on bottom of trans) which is going to be pricey.

    It could also be a motor mount (or made worse by a bad one) as was stated above. The motor mounts are known to go but that you should be able to eyeball yourself.

    Just got my car back from the shop. Was waiting to talk to the tech when I overheard a guy talking about a rolling stop clunk he has in his audi that only happens in the first 20 minutes of driving his car. Asked him what he drives... 2010 S4. I told him that I have the same issue except only when my car was warmed up. He got quoted $4500 for a mech unit, except he bought his car from the US and has no warranty. I replicated the shifting bang before I handed them my keys. Came back 2 hours later, to my surprise new mech unit ordered under warranty. We shall see how it goes when I bring it back in Wednesday to get fixed.

    Mech unit replaced and working great. Few weeks later started experiencing a rolling stop clunk...again. Really discouraging. Back to Audi I go.
