Hey everyone, this is my first post here. Ive done some research but can't find anyone with the same problem. I recently got a 2000 a4 1.8t 5 speed as my DD. I had a GIAC stage 1 tune put on about a month ago and starting getting misfires from cylinder 3. I replaced the plugs and coils and it got better but isn't gone. Still multiple random misfires and cylinder 3 misfire. But if I got WOT in 1st 2nd and 3rd it seems to be non existent but say i'm cruising in 2nd at 2200 and go WOT it will hesitate and misfire. same with the rest of the gears. Any advice would be appreciated! I will be putting on exhaust and downpipe this weekend so i'm hoping to get it taken care of. Thanks in advance!

How are your coil harness/plug wires? Are they brittle and cracking?

They appear to be okay, normal wear not cracked or burnt from what I saw.

Get VAG-COM and study mandatory stoichiometric fuel/air ratio and read your short term fuel trims on live feed."" Once you get VAG-COM you'll run the world like the rest of us

What's your gap? You should put it to .026-.028

Sorry Ive been away for a little bit, I will invest in a VAG-COM in the future. I set my plug gap to .28 with these new plugs. I now put exhaust and a downpipe and the misfire is still there. I'm thinking ill swap the injector on 3 and see if it follows. Any other thoughts would be appreciated!

Also to note that when i replaced the coil pack on cylinder 3 the misfire seemed to go away for a few days... then came back on the same cylinder.

I thought my misfire problem was from my plugs and coil packs, but it ended up being my crankshaft position sensor. You can get a new one for under $15 free shipping on eBay. But I bought an upgraded one on ECS Tuning for $55 because it included a protective sleeve. These sensors get hot and start to intermittently fail over time.
