about 5 days from stage 3 engine/trans reinstall.. any tips?

if you don't recognize my username, I've done a tip to 6 swap. anyone have any tips to make things easier during reinstall? I've checked all of my lines about 70 times, that's almost not an exaggeration. couple things I'm thinking of doing to make install easier:

    1) clutch slave mounted in trans before install. then I'll only have to connect line from master

    2) shifter linkage from swap donor not messed with. have the linkage in the shifter box and inserted in boots. planning to connect linkage once trans is within reasonable range

    3) axle shafts installed and pinch bolts out of knuckle for extra clearance

    4) planning to install the manual trans brace from subframe once trans is in for extra clearance

    5) installing oil filter post install for extra clearance

that's all I can think of outside of taking it really slow and steady. checking for clearance and watching for pinch wires/lines

any other tips from those who have done this is greatly appreciated!

ha.. consider it done. using OE stuff on my kit. I've read about quite a few problems with the JHM stuff while researching all of the swap crap

    Have alcohol close by...

Bleed slave cylinder while the engine is out. My biggest mistake was disconnecting it and not just letting it hang there while the motor was out. It's a huge bitch to get a hand up in there.

Take your time and double check everything, especially with components you won't have access to if the engine/tranny is installed.

If you become frustrated just take a break and get your mind off of it

Because you don't want a proper shifter setup?

okay cool. I've got the line run properly and hanging where it connects to the slave. I'll connect it with about 6" from trans' final resting place along with the linkage

If you don't need to replace the slave you should have never disconnected it. Just remove the whole thing from the bell housing. If it's already disconnected buy the all metal slave one and line from usp (I think). Then bleed it while it hangs there. The pedal won't feel right because it's not pushing the fork but you can still get the air out of the lines.

Also, double triple and quadruple check the coolant line on top of the turbos. They are a mega bitch while the engine is out and impossible to do while the enginr is in.

Cam chain seals? Half moon gaskets? I hope you did the driver side one while you did timing. If not it was just leak a tad. The pax side will leak onto the exhaust manifold and smell lovely.

Sorry, totally rambling but I just put my motor back in and had to do some things that should have been done while it was out.

it was a trans swap from tip to 6 so the slave didn't exist before. yes, it's disconnected from the line. I picked up the stainless USP line, using oem sachs slave that came with my swap kit. seems to be in great shape.

turbo lines have been checked over 70 times now. literally.

the entire top end seals/gaskets/plugs were replaced with TB job. no issues there. also replaced bottom end seals including RMS and front crank seal. oil cooler seal and rear o-ring brand new. I was pretty damn comprehensive with my engine tear down and rebuild

anything else you can think of? and its cool i appreciate the rambling, may lead to an ah-ha moment for me. never know!

Good dude. Rear heater hoses always leak. Auxiliary water pump under manifold is a fuckbag of a part too, the thing always leaks. I legit replaced it with an elbow joint.
