    Tapping into headlight power source

    Hey all,

I've got a gadget that I want to power up using the power coming into the headlight when the switch is on. Does anyone know which wire this is on the pin connector on the Audi A4 b6's?

Just use a test light to see which has a constant 12v and switched 12v. I belive mine was light blue with a gray tracer.

Well at the very least when tapping into wires you should have a test light go buy one from autozone they're cheap.

How much power does it require? Do you want it to go bright and dim with the dash backlights?

No, It's one of those LED emblem's so it would only be lit constantly bright at night (hence sharing the power with the headlights)

No idea about the power, just says draw from a 12v connection

I'd check the power requirements of what you're trying to hook up to make sure you don't inadvertently blow a fuse and then you're stuck without lights because of something that is likely useless.

Cool, i came across this but wasnt sure. Im going to splice into pin 5 for power. I guess I can also splice into the ground low beam to ground the emblem, or can I ground it anywhere on the chasis?

So i've decided to just run the power wire into the cabin and piggyback on the radio's fuse. However it's not coming on. Do I need to wire up the black wire (neutral) to something? Maybe the battery?

Yes, any part of the frame or negative battery post. But it is not advisable to connect anything directly to the negative battery post. Typically its best to ground directly to the frame.
