    Returning to Audi

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Returning to the Audi fold with new 2015 S4 3.0T Quattro S-Tronic, the dealer had one left over. My fourth Audi having owned a TT, S5 and TTRS previously. Trying to resist mod monsters after my last car, a modified M3. The S4 is more sophisticated and comfortable than the M3, plenty fast with better fit and finish. Very subtle no screaming "look at me" like my red M3 did, enjoying the lack of attention from other drivers (constant race challenges from Honda kids). Regardless, here are the obligatory iPhone shots, and I am back.

    Packages / Options

Looks great. My current S4 is Phantom Black . It is my 6th Black car which I bought used after I said never another Black car. One suggestion. Very few like the looks of the OEM grill. Some replace it with an RS4 style. Others put black tape or vinyl strips between the middle slats, which I personally did to my 2014. Enjoy!

I said I would not mod until warranty was almost up... Car had 1000 miles and is Stage 1, Awaiting stage 2 pulley. Have APR Cooling unit and APR carbonio Stage 2 (awaiting install), ST Coilovers (awaiting install) and Renn Motorsports RS-51 wheels on the way.

Full front clear bra and full tint done

Agree with modifying the grille. Personally I think an all black RS4 grille is perfect, and it's what I did to mine, but to each his own :)

Actually I did a quick one-step polish the next day after delivery, love to detail cars as a hobby.

What dealer did you purchase it from and how was the experience?

I'm from Northern CT and use Fathers and Sons for my maintenance in Mass as Hoffman and I don't get along. But I'd like other options for window shopping with good staff.

I almost bought an eerily similar E92 to yours before my S4 this summer. Given where we live, I'm happy with my decision overall. But still lust for that V8!

if you think you wouldn't mod an NA V8 .. you're in a world of trouble with a Supercharged Car .. my plan after twin turboing an NA car was i was going to buy a fast car and leave it stock.. but tunes are so cheap for so much power.. that goes out the window fast

The B8 S4 is like that unbelievable hot girl who's dressed in a turtle neck, sweatpants and has a bad haircut.

Few quick changes and its all sex.

I tried not to mod it too but you can turn the dial up both in the looks, sound and performance so easily.

Hahaha ^^^ this is perfectly put!

And OP you will still get kids in Honda's and Jetta's trying to race. This past weekend a crappy old Lexus tried to do a pull on the highway. It takes a true man to control himself. And to know the opposer has no chance and isn't worth risking a ticket lol.

Audi of Fairfield, third or fourth go around they have been good to me. Others complain about flexibility on pricing. Given the neighborhood they do not have to be the absolute lowest on price they sell a ton of cars.

Welcome back! I was debating between an M3 and S4 because the prices were a lot closer, both being used. I knew the M3 would be faster stock, but i was planning on completely giving in to the mod demon on my shoulder, and just liked the audi design better. A lot can change with suspension and chassis mods. Enjoy it!

Both great cars, I love the "wolf in sheep's clothing" nature of the S4, no sneaking up on someone in an M3.

I gave serious consideration to the E92 M3. It came down to practicality as I am getting older and the S4 makes for a better daily driver in terms of livability. I am still eyeing an F80 M3 down the road though!

E90 M3 is a tighter car and more focused, while the F80 is a different ballgame all together.

I also love how subtle the B8 is. No one knows the real deal, it just flies under the radar. I'm getting old, I don't want the extra attention.

For sure. I used to ride around in aggressive looking, loud cars, and i like more subtle styling now. 5 years ago i would have had yellow calipers, but there is something more "audi" about 6-piston calipers in black on a black sedan with factory wheels.

I really like the f80. Saw a nice gray one today, and man do they look awesome. I can see how they attract attention. On the other hand, i have a hard time telling a4's from s4's going down the road. Especially the silver ones with 18's. Nobody knows what an s4 is, and that's nice more often than not

Congrats! Black isn't really that much more difficult to care for. Just shows more damage such as scratches more easily if not cared for properly. At least yours is metallic. I love my German Tuxedo as my wife calls it and as much as I wish it wasn't pure deep brilliant black, I do love when it's cleaned up.

This. With the black optic, I've been tempted to completely debadge the S4 to go as low profile as possible. Maybe put an A4 grille on it

Congrats on the new S4 as a current Phantom Black with the Titanium Package (I have a 2011) they are harder to keep clean but when clean no other color stands a chance to shine against our cars (maybe Sepang Blue ha) ....but I also carry all my detailing equipment with me to keep it that way :D

But side question, what would you say is the main differences in driving the S4 vs the M3 as I was very close to pulling the trigger and going the other way? For me the steering feel of the M3 sold me over to truly thinking about the chance....

First off no wrong answer here just depends on what you're after. The high-revving naturally aspirated V8 in the M3 is one of the best engines out there. With the BMW performance exhaust the sound is great, check out this video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBcH_F6IA80

For me, the S4 engine is plenty fast and very smooth.

I modified the car quickly so hard for me to compare the stock ride comfort, but I am confident the S4 is "cushier". The M3 handles great with tons of feel. For me, all the power in the rear was a bit scary in the rain. Quattro is far more practical.

Fit and finish on the S4 is miles ahead of the M3, I could never get the hood and bumper to line up to my OCD's satisfaction. The interior of the S4 is better thought out and easier to use.

The M3 screams "look at me" and brings with it tons of unwanted attention (race challenges to State Troopers watching you fill up with gas and setting up two miles down the road to try and grab you). To me, both cars are beautiful in their way. The coupe is great looking but a pain with kids or any passengers greater than one.

I am most likely older than you or almost anyone here and at this stage in my life, I just want to enjoy the ride and do not need the attention that comes with owning a high profile car. That said I look at photos of all my past vehicles and the M3 still makes me smile, and I think it is the most beautiful car I ever "built." Do I want it back, no, is it a great car anyone would love, hell yes.

My wife hated the M3, not that I care. So, in the end, follow your heart and enjoy the ride. Life is short own both. Best of luck. Reminiscing photo below:

    Hope my rambling helps.

When you live in thevNortheast, M cars are impractical, unless you have a winter car . That is what makes the S 4 so wonderful, having Quattro .
